LUKANETTE S4 - GLACIATOR 2.0 - PT 6

The next morning, Marinette heads over to the Liberty.

‘Okay Tikki, I think I’m finally ready to declare my love for Luka and tell him a love declaration as good as the one he gave me!’

‘Good luck Marinette! I’m sure he’d love anything you say to him!’ Tikki replied.

‘Thanks Tikki!’ Marinette smiled.
‘She got to the Liberty and found Luka in his cabin, playing a sad sounding song on his guitar.

She knocks on his door and he stops playing and looks up.

‘Mari? What are you doing here?’ he asks.

‘I have something I wanted to say to you’ Mari smiled. She noticed he looked kind of sad. ‘Are... are you okay?’

Luka couldn’t hide his feelings any longer and burst out crying.

‘Luka?! What’s wrong?’ Mari asked hugging him.

‘Are you... breaking up with me?’ Luka replied softly between sobs.

‘Of course not! God no! What on earth makes you think that?’ Marinette replied, rubbing his back soothingly.

‘Well... because I saw you and Cat Noir hanging out yesterday and going to a movie and I was a little bit jealous I guess. I thought he was replacing me.’

‘Luka...’ Mari whispered, breaking out of the hug and holding his face in her hands, looking lovingly into his eyes.

‘I could never stop loving you. You’re the symphony of my life, my only constant who knows the real me. You read me better than anyone else. You care for me, love me and share my good days and bad days. You’re the most understanding and patient person I know. You waited so patiently for me to sort out my feelings and loved me constantly. I could never imagine being with anyone else but you, Luka. I love you with all my heart. Without you, my life would lose its rhythm. I want to grow old together with you... Luka Couffaine...’

She kissed his face all over, kissing away all his tears and heartache.

Luka was in shock. He’d never heard anything so beautiful in his life. ‘My melody...’ he whispered and laid her on the bed and started kissing her face all over as well.

‘Oh Luka... I love you so much!’ Mari breathed.

‘I love you so much too my melody...’ Luka smiled, lying next to her and smiling lovingly at her as he caressed her hair. ‘I can’t believe that I assumed the worst.’

‘When you saw me with Cat Noir, I was practicing my love declaration to you. I needed someone I have no romantic interest in, so that I could get a second opinion on it. It was getting stressful, so we saw a movie together. Nothing romantic though, just an action movie. Then when we went back to practicing, Glaciator showed up again because with all the stress of the ‘Couple of the Year’ thing, I forgot to give him a charm. He thought we were in love but I explained I was only practicing my love declaration to the one I really love. But he didn’t believe us. He thinks Cat Noir and Ladybug are meant to be together. But he’s wrong. Ladybug and Viperion are' Mari breathed, holding Luka tightly in her arms, never wanting to let him go.

‘Oh my melody... you don’t know how happy I am to hear you say that’ Luka whispered happily.

‘Oh, I still have to tell you my love declaration!’ Mari replied.

‘You mean what you said before wasn’t it? I thought it was the most perfect, beautiful declaration I have ever heard in my life!’ Luka smiled lovingly at her.

‘Really? I’m so glad...’ Mari whispered softly as Luka leaned in closer and kissed her lips gently.

‘I want to grow old together with you too... my melody...’ Luka whispered, looking lovingly into her eyes and caressing her face.

Mari sighed and closed her eyes at his gentle touch. Oh my gosh, he is SO perfect! she thought to herself.

Outside, Cat Noir watched through the porthole window and saw Mari and Luka kissing. He was happy for Mari that it all worked out, but he still felt a little bit sad.

Later, Adrien was in the boy’s locker room alone, getting ready for a fencing competition.

He sighs. 'I'm happy for Mari and Luka, but I suppose a part of me kinda hoped that she was planning on saying that love declaration to me.'

'With a code name like Blueberry?' Plagg replied as he eats some Camembert. 'You're not a blueberry, you're more like a Buttercup!'

'That's not making me feel any better' Adrien sighs. 'Although it was fun hanging out with Marinette yesterday. I enjoyed going to the movies with her and our chat. I think she's sweet.' Adrien smiles.

'I know kid, but face it. She has a boyfriend. Maybe it's time for you to move on to another type of cheese' Plagg replies.

'I'll try Plagg. Or maybe I could just show Mari more of my Cat Noir side as Adrien. Then maybe she'd fall for me.' Adrien replies.

Plagg groans in annoyance.

In the Collège Françoise Dupont Courtyard, the fencing competition begins. Adrien claims victory and holds up a trophy.

In her room, Marinette sees the post that Adrien put up of his fencing competition victory on his social media page and she likes it.

Then she gets a call from Kagami.

Marinette: “Hey Kagami! What's going—"

Kagami: “How did it go with practicing your declaration? Did you do what I told you to?”

Marinette: “Uh— yeah why?”

Kagami: “Because I read some more of my book and that's a very risky technique. When you start practicing with a boy, you could fall in love with him, and then you might run away together to a desert island where you might get attacked by zombie carnivorous plants.”

Marinette was confused: “What?”

Kagami: “And I haven't even finished Volume 3 yet. But I think it gets even worse later.”

Marinette: “Hang on. You've been giving me advice that you got from a book of fiction?”

Kagami: “From "The Robinsons of the Catastrophe". Why shouldn't I?”

Marinette sighs: “Kagami, Kagami, Kagami. You really need to spend more time with me and the gang. Besides, I’m madly in love with Luka so falling for Cat Noir will never happen.”

Kagami: “By the way, whatever talk you had with Adrien worked. He’s got that sparkle back in his eye again.”

Marinette: “But I haven’t seen him since the park, just before I talked to you!”

Kagami: “Well whatever you said or did, it worked. So keep being a good friend to him at school.”

Marinette: “I will Kagami, I will.”

Ladybug and Cat Noir contact Alya to do an exclusive interview for the LadyBlog in which they reiterate the facts that they are not a romantic couple and strictly a professional one.
While they are flattered to be voted “Couple of the Year” they do request their fans to petition to have the billboard photos replaced with a less intimate one and any intimate photos of them together to be permanently deleted. And it works! A few days later the billboards have been replaced with a more professional looking picture.

Later in the week Luka and Mari are out on Marinette’s balcony again.
‘That’s much better!’ Marinette says, looking at the billboard of Ladybug and Cat Noir together.

‘I agree' Luka says. ‘So glad that you and Cat Noir were able to set the record straight and get them to change the photo.’

‘Yeah, well we save Paris countless times, doing us this teeny favour is the least they can do' Mari smiles.

‘Well, you do a terrific job being Ladybug, but you do an even better job of being yourself, Marinette Dupain-Cheng' Luka whispers, holding her close.

Mari blushes. ‘Thank you, Luka Couffaine’ she whispers back, as their lips meet and they kiss each other passionately.
