My eyes flutter open and I gasp.
I sit up covered in a cold sweat.
I immediately know my fever has broken.
I barely have time to look over my shoulder before I am brought into a hug from Ryan.
"You're ok! I was going to take you to the hospital!"
"Ryan it's ok."
"I don't know what I would have done if something happened to you. You have to stop scaring me like that!"
"Sorry. I can't help getting sick."
"Yeah but still. I hate seeing you sick an there's nothing I can do."
I go silent at this thought. I wonder what ones through his mind when he sees me in pain. I know what goes through my mind when I see him in pain. I don't really know what to say so I change the subject.
"Hey lets go we are going to be late for work."
He laughs. "You are NOT going to work. And neither am I. I'm staying with you."
"But Ryan!" I whine. "I'm feeling better."
"Nice try but you are a bad liar."
I scowl at him.
"Please?" I try batting my eyelashes.
"Nope."
"Fine. What are we doing then today?"
"Well I figured we'll do something you haven't in a while."
"Which is?"
"Movie day!"
Inside I am freaking out because I love watching movies and I haven't in a while. But I keep it cool on the outside and pretend its not a big deal.
"Ok. What movies?"
"You can choose. All of them. And I promise I will watch them no matter how bad they are."
SO EXCITED!
"Ok. I like a few movies."
"Like what?"
"Harry Potter, National Treasure, The Hobbit, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Muppets."
"Sounds good!"
We move to the couch, and I still feel like crap, but I pretend like I am fine.
Ryan pulls out The Muppets. On DVD.
"Ryan you have The Muppets on DVD?"
"Yeah so?"
I start cracking up.
In laughing so hard my sides hurt, my stomach is in knots, and I can't breathe.
Ryan shakes his head and smiles.
"It's not that big of a deal." He tries to defend himself.
"I can't believe you have The Muppets! That's great!"
"Shut up." He says playfully.
He puts it in the DVD player and we start watching it.
I love this movie. This was the movie I always watched with my brother. When we couldn't decide on one we would watch this. It always made me laugh.
I smile now at the funny parts, while Ryan laughs.
When it is over, he puts in Pirates of the Caribbean.
I love this movie. Johnny Depp is the best.
I get tired, and I lay my head on Ryan.
He puts his arm around me, and I drift off to sleep in his embrace.
