A Few days later

Prince Hugo

It had been a few days since I left home and just like I had promised Sofia every day, she got a letter.

She should have gotten like 5. I wish she would write back to me, but she would need to find out where to mail the letter because we aren't at a local place.

I have also sent my father a letter telling him our progress so far; it was easier to send it to him since we weren't that far away from the castle.

We were at the borderlines of Whelsire since this is where most of the troubles began, and we were close to the fields they set fire to.

We have captured and killed some, although it was challenging for me to deal with their death, but it was always in scenarios whether it was me or them.

I was finishing another letter I was about to send Sofia when a guard entered my tent.

"Your majesty, this letter arrived for you." He said as I frowned. It was very odd since I never received any letter.

"Do you know where it's from?" I asked as he nodded.

"It came from the castle, probably your father." He said as I took the letter, opened it, and read it.

Dear Hugo,

I hope you are doing fine, son. We miss you every day here and are glad everything is going well for you.

As far as the prisoners you have captured, they have made their way to their cells in the dungeon, and as we have predicted, they aren't talking.

The threats have calmed down with Sofia, King Roland, and I have been in contact, and it seems like it was a one-time thing like last time.

Although he's not taking any chances and continues to expand her protection for a while, he doesn't know for how long; as you know, Sofia hates security.

As soon as any of the prisoners say anything, I will send word for you to change the course; things for Axel are going well as well; for the first time, your brother is excited about his wedding preparations.

But then again, how could he not be happy? I know that if It were you and Sofia, you would also be pleased about your wedding.

We hope you will return and be here with us on your brother's wedding day; take care, and we hope to hear from you soon.

Love, Father.

As I finished reading the letter, I couldn't help but smile; for one thing, I am glad my brother is excited about his wedding. If I'm being honest, I thought he would never settle down.

Secondly, I'm glad to hear that the threats that were made toward Sofia have finally calmed down.

'I guess me being here has helped with her protection.' I thought as I remembered what my Dad said and couldn't help but chuckle.

Sofia wasn't the type of princess who wanted or thought she needed protection. In fact, she would be the one to offer protection and protect others.

That is one of the things I admire and love about her. She is always thoughtful, caring, and protective of others.

"Your Highness, ready for today's patrol?" asked the general as I nodded.

"Just a minute," I said as I put the letter for Sofia in an envelope and gave it to the guard who brought me my father's letter; he was the one who would always send my letters to her.
