The phone rang jolting Liam and I both awake.

"What the fuck?" He grunted. "Who the fuck's ringin' you at this time a night?"

"Jared Followill." I read the caller ID aloud.

"The bleedin' 'ell does 'e want?"

"I dunno." I swiped to answer it. "Hello?"

"Hi, Jules!" Came the cheerful reply.

"Do you understand the concept of time zones?"

            "Yeah?"

"Well, then I think you'd understand the difference between the one in Nashville and the one in England. Especially 'cuz the British have loved you longer than the Americans ever have!"

"What the fuck does he fuckin' want?!" Liam barked. "It's the middle of the fuckin' night!"

            "He-"

"I'll fuckin' tell 'im what 'e fuckin' wants, me!"

But fuck knows he didn't have to. Fuck knows I already knew.

It was always so quiet in the country. Not that I'd ever forgotten it was. I always belonged in the country rather than the city but I got used to my new surroundings when I moved to London.

Liam, Gene, and I were still staying at Noel's. For various reasons, some of which had dried up.

"Take 'em off grain." I instructed Noel when the day came to finally dry off the girls for the year.

It would be time to breed them again soon.

We spent our days piddling around Noel's barnyard. Liam would go for his daily runs in the woods.

"Hope he don't trip over a stick or summat!" Noel quipped.

            But thankfully, he never did.

Gene and I practiced various line dances. One wasn't technically a line dance but it had moves that were just as fun along with a catchy beat.

We were out in the backyard getting into the groove when we heard something.

"Sounds like a car pullin' up." Gene said.

            "Yep." I agreed.

Again, I knew what it was. Who it was.

"Aunty Jules!" They squealed racing towards me as soon as they clamored out of the car.

"Hi, guys!" I greeted them with open arms ready for a hug.

They embraced me as tight as they could.

I smiled enjoying every minute of it...until I looked up and saw the scowl on their mother's face.

"C'mon, la's!" Gene ushered his two cousins along. "Let's go inside and get settled, yeah?"

"Yeah." They followed him to the house.

            And then there were three.

"Should I even ask about this fucked up arrangement?" Sara hissed.

"What's so fucked up about it?" I asked.
