Gene was on fall break from school. An extended weekend that would be over in the blink of an eye. He was determined to make the most of it and made sure to include me and Lennon in his plans.

"C'mon! Let's go!" He ordered waving us to follow him.

"Where're ya goin'?" Liam asked curiously.

"To the skate shop." Gene replied.

"Can I come with yous?"

"No, ya can't." Gene shook his head.

Liam furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. "Why not?"

"'Cuz you're not invited."

"Why am I not invited?"

"'Cuz you're not!"

"But why am I not-"

"'Cuz Jules is takin' us and you're not invited! End of!" Gene snapped.

Liam's jaw dropped. "But-"

"Let's go!" Gene stepped towards the door.

"We ain't goin' in this state!" I exclaimed. "Not when you're acting like a complete brat!"

He glared at me shocked. "You wh-"

"Apologize to your father or we ain't goin'." I pointed at Liam. "You ain't gonna get away with actin' like that!"

He rolled his eyes turning to Liam. "Sorr-"

"Don't roll your eyes at him!" I snapped.

He rolled them again waiting to turn to his father until he was finished. "Sorry."

"You ain't fuckin' goin'!" Liam declared shaking his head.

Gene's mouth and eyes widened in disbelief. "You what?"

"You've no one to blame but yourself!" I chimed in. "If you weren't such a smart aleck then maybe you'd be-"

"You both suck!" He cut me off.

"Ee-arr!" Liam shouted. "You watch your fuckin' mouth!"

"Jules, please!" Gene begged ignoring his father and focusing on me. "Just take us to the-"

"You should be grateful he don't ground you!" I quipped. "'Cuz goodness knows he should!"

"You lot ain't goin' without me and that's the fuckin' end of it!" Liam declared.

I shrugged. "There ya go, Genius!"

He tutted. "He can't go with us, Jules, y'know that!"

"And why can't I fuckin' go?" Liam raised his eyebrows curiously.

"I've just told you!" Gene threw his hands in the air. "You'll be bored anyway. It ain't your kinda scene."

"Yes, it is!"

"No, it's not!"

"Yes, it is!"

"No, it's-"

"Enough!" I yelled stepping between them. "Gene, you burned this bridge already so let's leave the embers as they are."

He snorted. "Like f-"
