...
I needed her. I know I keep saying that and I know everyone who's been arsed to hear this story knows that but fuck...what am I to do?

She'd gone and left but then she came back.

To me and no one fucking else.

I couldn't have fired her even if I wanted to. She come back from wherever she'd been with Noel and the first thing she did was see if she still had a job waiting for her. She did of course. Like I said, there was no way I could've sacked her.

I needed her too much.

The Stone Roses had just released their new single. Quality of course and their first in twenty some odd years. Our Jules was a fan of them – not their biggest but still. She knew the best tunes which was good enough for me.

I saw Ian one day. Can't remember where but that didn't matter. What mattered was what he asked me.

"Ya still seein' that American bird? What'd ya call her?"

"Jules." I replied. She was Jules to everyone...except me.

"Right. Ya still seein' her?"

I wanted to say yes but if I did, I'd be lyin'. And fuck knows I'm not a liar.

"Aw. Sorry to hear that, mate!" He said. "Does she still live in London?"

Of course she did. She liked it too much to go back to her life in America.

"Good. You'll give this to her then?"

I already had mine and made plans months before to go. I wouldn't miss it for nothing. I didn't miss Spike Island and I sure as shit wasn't going to miss this one either.

And the same went for her.

She was going...with me.

She just didn't know it yet.

It didn't take much to talk her into it. In fact, I think it was the real reason she showed up at the store in the first place. Not to check on her job but...

"What's this about?"

I mailed the ticket to her even though I knew she wouldn't get it until she got back to London. It killed me to wait so long but I had to do it.

Our Kid left me no choice.

He wasn't going to the gig thank fuck. Couldn't be arsed since the Roses hadn't put out any new material. He weren't invited anyway.

So Blue and I agreed to go together – the eighteenth of June was going to be our day and nobody was going to get in the way of that.

Things were a cluster fuck on her first day back. There was a photo shoot for the new line and I had to do an interview. I wasn't nervous. I liked doing interviews, me, especially when they were about Pretty Green. But I still felt a bit on edge.

And I was so glad she was there.

I kept her busy organizing some dates for me. I put her up in one of the empty offices but just knowing she was there was enough to make everything okay. I relaxed a bit in the comfort of her being in the same building as me. Not off in some other city or country or fuck knows where else.

When the day was over, I took her to dinner. I can't remember everything we talked about. To be honest, I was so focused on her smile I couldn't be bothered to pay much attention to anything else. She was so happy.
