...
If it weren't for her he wouldn't have been there. She wanted him there. She called him and invited him. Said she didn't give a shit what others thought. Nobody really knew much anyway.
And of course he wasn't going to tell her no. He wouldn't miss a chance to see her especially since it had been a while.
She didn't notice him when he first walked in. She just stood there listening to the others around her carry on a conversation. She looked out of it. Her eyes appeared blank and spacey. Was something up?
Her demeanor changed as soon as she saw him though. Her face lit up and she was glowing even more than she naturally did.
"Tommo!" She yelled with a huge smile spread across her pretty face. She took off and headed straight in his direction, leaving "the bloke" behind.
"Alright, Jules!" He replied.
They went off together to get drinks and catch up. They were both so enthralled in hearing what the other had to say, no one else seemed to matter. The crowded club became silent in their own heads. Her voice was so angelic. He could listen to it for hours.
But of course, the conversation had to be interrupted. Not by who he expected but close enough.
"What the fuck's he supposed to be?" She asked as she looked at him.
He didn't have a clue and he wanted to know as much as she did. "A creep?" He suggested.
"More like Liam's spy." She was upset by this realization. Did "the bloke" not trust her? She was a good girl. Better than most he'd ever had.
More probing and she revealed some of her frustrations. "The bloke" had to be doing what he did to protect her. He loved her. Everyone knew that. Everyone.
Their lovely conversation was about to be resumed when someone approached them. Neither one of them knew who she was but she acted like she knew them.
"I heard what happened." She said to his conversation partner. "How are you feeling?"
What was she on about? He wanted to find out but the two girls cut him off.
Two sentences later and the stranger was gone. Now he could figure out what was up.
"What happened?" He asked. "Were you sick?"
"No." She replied calmly. "I was roofied."
What the fuck?!
She got up and gestured for him to follow her outside. It was so quiet and empty out there. No one must've needed a smoke.
They went over to a picnic table and sat down on its top. Now it was time to find out what the fuck had happened to her.
She assured him it wasn't serious. That she was fine but "the bloke" wasn't so sure. She lost a friend over it all which left her absolutely gutted because she didn't have many to begin with.
"You've got me." He reminded her. They were friends. Really good ones. How could she forget that?
She told him she was referring to her lack of female friends. Suppose that made sense. Most of her friends were blokes. That was strikingly clear.
They went on talking and laughing a bit before they were interrupted...again.
The three of them sauntered out laughing about God only knows what. Joined at the hip they were. Musically and otherwise.
