"You got all your stuff packed?" I asked Gene after I came back out into the main part of the flat and found him relaxing on the couch on living room.

"Yep." He replied. "You said we only needed carry-on's 'cuz we ain't gonna be over there that long."

"Good. 'Cuz readyin' your father's enough of a chore already." I moved to head back down the hallway but stopped when I heard my phone chime. "Now who in the heck's textin' me?" I went over, picked it up off the table, and turned on the screen.

"Who is it?"

"It's Noel."

Noely G.: What doin?

Me: Bout to leave for NYC.

Noely G.: ?

"What the bleedin' hell does he want?" Gene inquired.

"I don't know. He's still typing." I returned.

I watched the speech bubble flicker for a few seconds until it stopped.

And then, my phone rang.

I rolled my eyes at the caller ID then answered it. "Hello?" I spoke into the receiver.

"What's takin' you to New York?" Noel asked.

"A holiday. Our Gene's goin' with us."

"What about your Lennon?"

"Nope, 'cuz he's got somethin' else to do."

"Oh." He returned. "So, that means there's an empty seat on the plane then?"

I hesitated to respond making Gene perk up.

"What's he sayin', eh?" He questioned. "What the fuck's he sayin'?"

"He-"

"I'll tell Dad if you don't tell me!"

"And what are you gonna tell him when you ain't even know what he's sayin'?" I asked.

"Jules?" Noel interrupted pulling me back to the phone.

"You're gonna have to sort it out yourself." I told him. "'Cuz I gotta make sure Liam's ready to go."

After hanging up the call, I went back into the bedroom and found Liam where I left him packing his bags.

"I want me blanket and me robe." He informed me as he stuffed them into his suitcase.

"Okay." I replied while watching him. "But we could always get you a blanket and robe to leave over there so you don't have to keep haulin' them ones."

"I like haulin' these ones."

"Okay. That's fine." I took a deep breath as I planned out what to say next. "Noel wants to go with us."

He stopped packing and looked over at me. "You what?"

"He-"

"You better have told him no!"

But goodness knows I didn't. Goodness knows I should've. But something else told me I shouldn't have.

Noel arrived later with his suitcase all ready to go. Neither Liam nor Gene were happy and let the scowls on their faces show it.
