It's Hard to Leave When You Can't Find the Door

We were crowded around the table in the conference room at Pretty Green. Well, I shouldn't say crowded. The table was full but everyone had elbow room.

I was sat between Liam and Pat as usual listening to the speaker yammer on about the latest and greatest advertising Pretty Green was going to do. Liam looked like he was about to fall asleep. These kinds of meetings were never his bag but he went to make appearances and also be up-to-date on the happenings of his clothing firm.

They had just flipped to the next Power Point slide when a page came in.

"Sorry to interrupt ya, Jules." He whispered.

     "It's okay." I assured him. "What's up?"

     "A customer's requested you."

I didn't have any appointments lined up.

"She doesn't have any appointments lined up!" Liam informed him.

"I know." The page agreed. "But this customer is adamant they want Jules."

     "Who is it?" Liam asked.

"Don't know." The page shrugged. "He said he's from Manchester."

Liam looked at me curiously. "Who d'you know in Manchester?"

"No one." I replied shaking my head. "Aside from your mother. And Nico and them."

"It's not Nico." The page said.

"Then who the fuck is it?" Liam inquired.

"Guess we'll have to see." I told him. I stood up.

But Liam grabbed my hand to keep me from going anywhere.

"Blue?" His eyes were brimming with worry.

"It's alright, Liam." I kept my voice even to hopefully decrease his fear.

He nodded slightly then let go of my hand.

The store was about half crowded. The streets outside were busy but the weather was nice so it really didn't surprise me. People milled around shopping and searching. Looking for the best thing to make them a mod just like our Liam.

"Hello." I said with a smile when I got close enough. "I'm Jules."

"Fin." He replied with a grin and his hand stretched out to shake mine. He looked about my age with brown hair that covered his ears just a bit.

"So what can I help you find?"

"Well, I'm looking for a new parka..."

I led the way to the coat section. There were so many different types and colors, I sometimes had trouble picking my favorite. But I wasn't shopping for myself. Heck, I wasn't even shopping.

"These olive green ones are nice and they go with pretty much anything." I told him as I held one out so he could see.

"They do, yeah." He agreed with a nod. His Mancunian drawl was thicker than Liam's.

'What the heck's he doing in London?' I wondered.
