Noel's short break from the tour was just that: really freaking short. He was off to New Zealand in two days and would be gone for the rest of the month. He'd be away for Easter not that it mattered much. The boys were spending the holiday with Sara's family which meant their dear old dad didn't have to worry about running them to see the Easter Bunny or help them search for eggs.
Noel sat in the living room playing his acoustic guitar on the last afternoon before he left. His new stuff was mega. I was kind of regretting not following him on tour.
But I had to stick to my guns. Whatever those guns were supposed to be.
"I'm gonna run to the store quick." I informed him which didn't halt his strumming.
"Be careful." He said not looking up from his guitar.
I went and got what I needed and then set about to distracting myself from all the fun I was about to miss.
'You chose this.' I reminded myself as I put the colored tablets into their respective cups. 'You could've gone chasing after some Cester relation but no. You had to choose the alternative.'
Which was dyeing Easter eggs and making angel food cake. For that day at least. I'd be missing my family's Easter celebration which consisted of coloring Easter eggs and eating my grandma's traditional cake. The weather was supposed to be really great back home for the holiday. My mom planned to go fishing on our lake after dinner. Boy, I was missing a lot.
"Looks like you've been busy." Noel said as he came into the kitchen while I iced the cake.
"Yep." I agreed looking back at him.
He smiled. "Is that for me?" He pointed at the cake.
"It could be. I suppose I can let you take it with you on the road. It's the least I can do for the last remaining rock star." I smirked.
"It's fuckin' true and you know it!" He said.
"Well I hate to inform you but when Jet gets back together that all is gonna change."
"Right." He agreed with a hint of sarcasm in his voice. "I was actually thinkin' about a reunion."
"What reunion?" I asked curiously.
"An Oasis one."
I shook my head. "Don't start! You promised you wouldn't get the kids' hopes up."
"Well, I don't mean to." He continued. "I've just been thinkin' I wouldn't be against doin' a whole set of Oasis songs. I just wouldn't want Liam involved."
I turned completely away from my cake at that. "Then why would-"
"He's still angry, Jules. He makes the easiest things really difficult. You know that just as well as I do."
'Depends on the situation.' I thought although I couldn't help thinking it was me who was making things difficult.
"But I don't know." He said with a sigh. "I've got a lot going on and I'm happy with what I have now."
"Well that's good at least." I told him. I mean, he was going to Pittsburgh and Columbus that summer with what he had then. Part of me hoped I wouldn't be there though...for pretty obvious reasons.
Noel left the next day and I was home alone. But I wasn't scared this time.
On Easter Sunday morning, I put on Noel's blue sunglasses (that I managed to swipe when he wasn't looking before he left) and went for a walk in the park. There was an Easter egg hunt going on. The park was covered in brightly colored plastic eggs and tons of children trying to find them. It was fun to watch and helped me relax my mind.
Another distraction from a certain thing I tried to avoid.
I just wondered how long it would last.
Author's Note:
I know this is a short one but I'm honestly more excited for the next one that's coming. I haven't started writing it yet though. It may or may not be an exact part two of this story but references will be made to certain stuff that happened in Let Me Put You In The Picture (I'd tell you the chapters but I kind of don't want to spoil it) as well as some recent real life events. Thanks again for reading!
