4. "Have you always been this beautiful?".

It was a beautiful summer evening in Somerset and Lando was seated on a terrace with a sweet mocktail and some friends. He had a week off between the races and enjoyed it at home before he had to get to Silverstone at the start of another intense triple header. His friends were enjoying a beer, but he rather sipped on the sweet, lemonade-ish drink without any alcohol in it. He looked up at the sound of laughter and he saw four girls settling at a table not far from them. He focussed on the conversation with his friends, however a certain voice caused his ears to perk up each time he heard it. Lando looked over his shoulders without wanting to look like a creep checking out the girls. He just wanted to know if he recognized one of them from something. At the same time his feeling was nostalgic, as if he hadn't heard the voice, the laughter for a couple years. "Do you want something to drink, Lando?". One of his friends stood up and he quickly looked at him, shaking his head.

"No, thanks". Lando replied. The others were briefly on their phones and Lando looked back at the girl at the other table. She looks gorgeous with the summer dress on, her legs folded over each other and her fingers were loosely wrapped around a glass of wine. Y/N. Your name moved through his mind and he was sure of it when you tucked some hair behind your ear and he recognized some of the features of the side of your face. He wasn't sure if you'd remember him or even wanted to. You were friends in middle school before he dropped out and started his career. "That guy over there keeps looking at you". One of the girls told you and your eyebrows rose. You subtly threw a look sideways, seeing the guy who was eyeing you. Your cheeks slightly coloured rosy. "Let him look". You replied, moving your glass back up to your lips. You knew it was Lando, however you were sure he wouldn't remember you from school. You were like twelve year olds when you saw each other the last time.

"I have to go to the rest room". You announced and stood up to walk inside the bar and get to the ladies room. You went to the toilet and locked the door behind you, taking your phone out of your bag and you looked him up on Instagram to make sure you saw Lando seated at that table here in Sommerset. You shook your head at the thought that he would still know you. You got out of the toilet stall and washed your hands, looking at your appearance before you got out. You closed the door behind you and before you could join your friends again, someone pulled gently on your wrist to stop you. "Y/N?". He asked hopefully. You looked into Lando's bright eyes and your heart skipped a beat. "Lando". You said, your lips curling upwards. He smiled back at you. "It's been so long, I mean-... Years". Lando stammered. You nodded. "I didn't think you'd remember me". You honestly replied, smoothing out your dress. "Of course I would". He smiled. "We've been best friends". He said. "Do you want something to drink? Catch up a little?". He offered and you accepted.

You sat down at an empty table together with some drinks, leaving both of your friendgroups to be. You never expected it would be so easy to chat with him again, to talk about everything in life where your ways had split. You were amazed by the path he had walked to get to Formula 1, which had been his goal ever since he was so young. You and Lando had to leave when the bar closed and he insisted on walking you home, remembering where you lived. You stopped in front of your house, looking up at him when it was time to say goodbye. He looked back down at you, his eyes gliding over your figure in the light of the moon. "Have you always been this beautiful?". Lando asked, causing you to laugh softly. "The girl with the glasses and the braces and the pigtails made place for this gorgeous young woman. I feel honoured you still remember me". Lando continued, this making you blush and briefly look away from him. "Of course I would". You said the same he had said at the bar, making him chuckle. "You were my first crush". You giggled, a boyish grin appearing on his face.

"Was I?". You both laughed and you only noticed how close he was to you when Lando reached out to move a strand of your hair out of your face. "You were my first crush too. And now I met you again, I don't think I ever got over it". Lando admitted, causing your smile to fade. He gnawed at his bottom lip as he drew you closer to him, his fingertips caressing your cheek. You weren't sure how meeting Lando for two hours after eight years resulted in kissing him on the drive way, but you didn't really care when he leaned down and your lips connected. Sparks flew through your body and your heartrate went up. His chest felt firm under your palms when you rested them on his body. "Let's stay in touch, we don't live far from each other". Lando said, gazing into your eyes. You exchanged phone numbers and a last kiss before it was really time for you to get inside. "I'll see you soon, darling". Lando told you, letting go of your waist.

"You better not make it another eight years, Norris".

"I wouldn't be able to wait that long for you again, love".
