21. "Kiss me".

"Lift your head, darling. They're looking at their future queen". Your mother muttered and you swallowed hard, lifting your chin slightly to make sure the tiara in your hair wouldn't fall down. You wanted to focus on the heels on your feet so dearly, afraid they'd get tangled with the long gown you were wearing and that you would a fool of yourself, as a royal, in front of the other royal families and friends of your parents. The corset felt tight around your ribs and your bossom, flowers braided into your long hair that hung down your back. Today was your eighteenth birthday. For your mother it meant the start of the search for a prince. You were young and you didn't want to be bound to someone for life already, however there was no way back as your mother had planned this evening before you were born. She had picked your dress, the way your hair was supposed to be styled and you were afraid she'd even pick the prince you were supposed to marry. The other royal families had brought their sons, all of them having their eyes on you when you finally finished the stairs and stood in front of the ball room of the palace.

While the violins were still playing and the people were still chatting, you still felt like it was completely silent and everyone was staring at you. The jester made his way to the front, clearing his throat and now it was really silent. "We are all here today, because Princess Y/N has reached her eighteenth year in the palace...". He continued while your thoughts drifted away, your eyes catching the maids who were busy with the plates full of delicious things and you much rather wanted to hide in the kitchen with the palace cat to eat all the left overs. The velvet of your dress felt smooth underneath your palms when you fiddled with the skirt. You thought it was pretty though, but as your mother had explained how special this dress was, it felt so heavy to wear at the same time. You woke from your thoughts when the violins continued to play and the people started chatting again. "Princess". You heard behind you when you were about to sit down at your parent's table. "May I have this dance?". You looked at the prince who waited at the bottom of the few steps and you were about to tell him harshly 'no', when your mother nodded in aprovement. "Go on!". She happily said.

You placed your hand in his, your face showing your dismay as he took you to the floor and into his arms. You didn't look at him, you didn't speak to him. If you felt like this with every guy, you were wondering if you would ever find a prince. "Excuse me". You muttered and let go of him, even though he had been nice and careful. "Y/N!". Your mother called as she watched you move away from the prince. You were about to get into the restroom and lock yourself up, when you bumped into someone. "Oh, shit. Please, excuse me". The voice said. "Lando, you're already late and now you cursed in front of the princess!". A female voice hissed at him. "Stand up straight, you idiot". Another female voice sounded and she apparently smacked the back of his head when the boy let out a grunt of pain. You chuckled softly at the sight, adjusting your dress when you looked at the two girls and the guy. "Believe it or not, he's a prince". One of the girls said, pointing at the guy in the middle. You looked at him for the first time now and his crystal blue eyes sparkled with mischief, a grin curling his plumb lips.

"Shoo, sisters. Before you embarrass me even more". He spoke to the two girls, who giggled as they ran off. "I'm Prince Lando from Bristol". The prince said and he bowed gently, taking your hand in his to press a kiss to the back of it. "Hi". You smiled, immediately feeling drawn to the prince with the gorgeous eyes and the cute grin. He looked handsome, the long jacket he was wearing secured with a double row of buttons, a belt around his waist defining his well-build body and strong shoulders. The dark fabric pulled taught around his arms, golden decorations showing off the wealthy of his family, as well as the rings and the bracelets he was wearing. His trousers fitted just as perfect, his hair was curly and messy and you couldn't help it but think of how smooth and soft they would be if you ran your fingers through. "You look more beautiful than the moon tonight, princess". He politely told you and your smile widened at his words. "My love...". Oh, you felt warm on the inside at how he spoke to you. "Let me have this dance with you". He extended his hands once more and you placed your hand in his without a doubt.

He took you back to the floor, spinning you to his chest and you gazed up into his eyes as his strong arms were wrapped around you and carried you while the violins played their music. "Prince Lando, where have you been all this time?". You sighed contently, feeling like you belonged in his arms. "My horse had problems with crossing the river, your highness". He told you in all honesty and he grinned once more when it caused you to let out an adorable giggle. "Your mom is shooting death glares at me". Lando muttered in your ear, his grasp tightening a little more on your fine waist as you danced together, swaying around. "We can get out of here". You said, looking up at him while he lovingly gazed down at you. "I follow where you want to go, princess". He said and you took his hand, pulling him out of the crowd. Your steps echoed through the empty halls of the castle, some maids were nearly dropping their plates when you sped around the corners, finally reaching the empty balcony on the other side of the castle.

You were slightly breathless when you reached the balustrade and you leaned your hands on the thick stone, looking down at the flower garden that stretched out beneath you and was slightly lit up by the moon. "I don't have any words to describe my feelings, yet we only just met each other". Lando started, his hand resting on the velvet of your dress on your lower back. You turned to face him, looking up at his handsome face. "Prince Lando... Kiss me". You nearly whispered, but he had heard it and his fingers caressed your face, lifted your chin before he leaned down. Your eyelids fluttered when your lips brushed over each other, as if he gave you a chance to step back if you changed your mind, but you stood on your tippy toes to press your lips firmly on his. Lando's arm curled around your lower back, holding you tightly against his broad chest, your hands resting flat against it. Your heart was hammering against your ribs and you were surprised if he couldn't feel it against his body.

Your cheeks blossomed pink at the many times he pecked your lips before he slowly let go. "Marry me, prince of Bristol". You muttered, resting your forehead against his. "Allow me to make you my queen". Lando replied and you kissed once more, under the light of the moon where you had finally found your prince.
