Entry 925
Tuesday 9th April 2019

I'm on a plane – I'm literally inside some sort of medium sized jet flying off to God knows where!

WHAT. A. DAY.

The drama started with me huddled up in a bundle, on the cold concrete floor of the school boiler room I was in. With my foot still chained to the large pipe and after enduring a terrible night's sleep, I slowly opened my eyes when I heard Tara's assertive voice. "Luke, wake up," she firmly said. I opened my eyes, blinked a few times and raised my head to see Tara stood a few feet in front of me, but this time she was wearing some sort of long trench coat. I looked across the room to see Kyle who was sat on the floor propped up against the chain link fence holding Leo in his arms. "Wake up?" I groaned, as I manoeuvred myself so that I was sat on the floor, propped up against the large pipe I was shackled to, "What makes you think I had any sleep. You try getting comfortable on this bl**dy floor." "Come on," said Tara, "Liven yourself up. We've got work to do." "Is he OK?" I asked Kyle, referring to Leo. "He's fine," said Tara, "Stop worrying. Now come on. Clean yourself up. We're going on a little trip." Tara then unfastened her trench coat, removed it from her person and threw it on the floor to reveal she was dressed in a GRID soldier's uniform. "You're dressed as a GRID soldier," I said. "Well done, Luke," said a patronising Tara, "Your eyesight certainly works." Tara pulled her hair back and tied it up in a tight bun. She then produced a gun from the back of her belt and walked over to me. "Right," she firmly said, "This is what's going to happen. I'm going to release you and you will NOT attack me. If you try it then I will hurt Kyle. If you keep trying, I will shoot Kyle and leave your little boy Leo here alone whilst we go off on our jaunt. Do you understand? Yes or no?" I gave Tara an angry stare. I hated how patronising she was being. "Answer me," she firmly said. "Yes!" I loudly snapped. "Good," said Tara. She then dropped to her knee, produced a key and unlocked the shackle that was around my ankle that was chaining me to the large pipe. The second I was free I didn't hesitate. I quickly pushed Tara over and started to run towards Kyle and Leo but before I got anywhere near and forgetting how weak I still was, Tara grabbed hold of the bottom of my right leg, dragged me down to the floor, jumped on top of me and punched me hard in the stomach. I was winded and for a few moments was crippled in agony. Tara stood up and looked over me. "Don't make this harder than it has to be, Luke," said Tara, "You've just got out of hospital and I'm on top form with a gun in my hand. You're not going to win. You told me you'd do as you were told." "No," I said, trying to endure my pain as best as I could, "I told you I understood you. I didn't say I'd do as I was told." Tara frowned, grabbed hold of me by the scruff of the neck, dragged me over towards Kyle and Leo and plonked me in front of them as I clutched my stitches where she'd punched me. She grabbed hold of the bottom of my face and aggressively lifted it up forcing me look at Kyle and Leo. She then approached the pair, took hold of her gun and hit Kyle across the face with it hard. She gave him a right whack. "LEAVE HIM ALONE YOU F*CKING B*TCH!" I angrily yelled. Leo staretd to cry and Kyle tried to compose himself as he tended to Leo, "It's OK," Kyle said to me, trying to reassure me as blood tricked out of his left nostril, "I'm alright." "I said I'd hurt him if you tried anything," said Tara, "So I've hurt him. Remember what I said I'd do if you keep pissing me off? I'll shoot him." "I swear to God," I said. "Yeah, yeah," said Tara, rolling her eyes and interrupting me, "You're going to kill me. I'm an evil b*tch. Blah, blah, blah. I've heard it all before. Get some new material." Tara grabbed hold of my arm and dragged me to my feet. "Now, listen to me," she firmly said, "This is what's going to happen. Me and you are going to drive to this prison. We're going to see the lovely Mr Endo. He's going to tell us where the virus is and we're going to get it. Once I get it, I'm going to drive to my little secret location, get into one of the GRID jets and get the Hell out of here." "Just like that?" I said, "Christ you're delusional." "You underestimate me, Luke," said Tara. "Do you really think that me and you can just casually drive to the prison, leisurely stroll up to the gate and ask to see Harold." "Yes," said Tara, "I'm dressed like a GRID soldier. I've even dyed my hair the same colour as the stupid b*tch that used to wear this getup." "You killed a GRID soldier?" I said. Tara showed me an ID card containing a picture of the previous and now deceased owner of what was now Tara's GRID uniform. Now that Tara had dyed her hair, she did slightly resemble the picture of the deceased GRID soldier. "Her name was Ada Long," said Tara, "What with my new hair colour I think we look quite similar." "How many more people are you going to kill?" I said. "As many as it takes," said Tara, "Anyway, don't give her any sympathy. She didn't go down without a fight. In fact, she was a bit of a b*tch. Besides, there's enough GRID goons to go around. They won't miss one." "You're just a cold-hearted selfish b*tch," I said. "It's what's kept me alive for so long," said Tara. "And alone," I said. "I haven't been alone," said Tara, "I had your lovely son to keep me company, didn't I?" "Look, it doesn't matter that you look like this person," I said, "You need Blade to get you into the prison." Tara slowly raised her head and gave me a sinister smile. She then turned around and slowly walked out of the chainlike fenced area. I looked at Kyle with an expression of confusion. "Where's she gone?" asked Kyle. "I don't know," I said, "I don't know what she's playing at." A few moments later Tara but she wasn't alone. She was with Blade but he looked like he was in a right mess. He had two black eyes, cuts and red marks all over his face, a bust lip, blood trickling out of both nostrils and blood pouring out of a head wound. He was gagged, his hands were cuffed behind his back and his feet were tied together meaning he had to jump to make his way into the chain link fenced area. The poor guy looked like he'd had a right going over; he could hardly stand. He ended falling in a heap in the middle of the floor. "Blade!" I gasped. I gave Tara an angry stare. "What the Hell have you done to him?" I snapped. "I got him to radio through to the prison and tell them to expect soldier Ada Long and resident Luke Warm. He took a bit of persuading as you can tell, but he did as he was told in the end. I've thought of everything Luke. You should know by now how well prepared I am when it comes to things like this." I took a closer look at Blade. He was sweating heavily and his eyes looked funny. "What's wrong with him?" I said, "What's wrong with his eyes? You've done something to him, I can tell." "Relax," said Tara, "He'll be fine. He's a big guy. He could easily knock me out so I had to sedate him. I think I may have gone a bit too far but he'll be OK. It'll just take him a couple of hours to get his strength back." Tara shackled Blade to the large pipe that I was previously shackled. "If you want to see Harold in the prison then why do you need me?" I asked, "Why don't you just take Blade?" "Look at him," said Tara, "He's in no fit state. Besides, I had to rough him up to get him to radio through to the prison, and he only did that because I threatened to kill your little brat. If he wasn't sedated I think he'd give me trouble on route to the prison." "What makes you think I won't?" I said. "It doesn't matter if you do," said Tara, "I can handle you... Right then, I'm dressed and ready. My hair is sorted. Blade has radioed through to the prison and I've got a GRID jeep outside waiting. I've covered all bases. Let's go see Harold." "No, you've not covered all bases," I firmly said, "You need my cooperation. Well you can go and f*ck yourself. Cooperate with that." I frowned at Tara and stuck my middle finger up at her. Tara gave a tiresome sigh and produce a small digital clock with some wires sticking out of it, from her backpack. She pressed a few buttons on the little device and then turned the dial on the back. "This is a little timer," said Tara, "Around this school I have placed a certain amount of Semtex and I have just set the time for it all to go kaboom in two hours." "WHAT!?" I gasped, running over towards Tara to try and grab the timer. "Ah, ah, ah," said Tara, putting her hand out and stopping me, "I wouldn't do that if I were you. Destroying this might make the big bang come sooner, and besides, there's nothing you can do now. This place is going to get blown up whether you like it or not. The only thing you need to worry about is whether or not your children are in it when it happens. Now you can fight me if you want, or you can get me into the prison, get me to see Harold, convince him I've got Mia and that I'll kill her if he doesn't tell me where the virus is." "Mia's dead," I snapped, "She killed herself. Harold knows that." "Yes, I know Mia's dead," said Tara, "Kyle told me, but he also told me how she died. When she threw herself off that roof, she could have landed on something soft and escaped. That's what I want you to tell Harold. Convince him. Say that Mia survived, I found her and then took her hostage." I started to panic and feel very worried that Leo and Kyle were going to be in the school when it blew up. "He won't believe me," I frantically said, "Tara, please don't do this. Just let Kyle and Leo go." "Oh, so now you're scared," said Tara, "Now you're taking me seriously." "Tara, please," I said as I staretd to sob. "Oh, don't start crying," said Tara, rolling her eyes, "There's nothing more unattractive than a crying man. Pull yourself together. If you want to save your sons and get them out of here before the place gets blown sky high; shift your arse, get up there, get in the jeep, get me in this prison and convince Endo that I've got Mia and that I'll kill her if he doesn't tell me where the virus is." I looked down at Blade who was suffering but totally out of it. I looked over at Kyle who was holding Leo and gave him a sympathetic look. "You're going to be OK," I said, "I'll see to it. You're going to be alright. I'll get you out of this." Kyle, looking scared, but trying to hide it nodded. Tara and I then left, quickly made our way to the surface, clambered into a GRID jeep and made our way to the prison.
