Entry 818
Sunday 23rd December 2018

A nice quiet day.

Work was OK. People ate now a lot more accepting of the need to report to the reporting stations and there's hardly anyone who refuses or forgets now.

Auntie Meryl came to the reporting station to see me today. I told her about everything that the night before last. "Mia tried to commit suicide," I said. "You're kidding!" exclaimed Auntie Meryl. "No," I said, sounding depressed and tired. "How could she do that!?" exclaimed Auntie Meryl. "Yeah well I guess what with everything that's been going on, she was pretty desperate," I said. "It doesn't matter how desperate someone is you should never resort to that," said Auntie Meryl. "Well it's done now," I said, "She's never going to do it again. I made her promise." "What do you mean it's done?!" Auntie Meryl exclaimed, "Did she attempt it or succeed in doing it?" "She attempted," I said, "How could she have succeeded if she said she won't do it again?" "People that think it's OK to do that sort of thing can't be trusted," said Auntie Meryl, "I know the poor girl's been through a lot but she can't use that as any excuse do something so awful. Who was involved in the whole thing?" "Well Ash," I said, "And..." "Ash?" said Auntie Meryl, interrupting to me, "Oh my God. Is he OK?" "He's fine," I said, "Why are you so worried about Ash?" "Because it's a horrible thing to have to go through," said Auntie Meryl. "I was there to you know," I said. "Oh my God," said Auntie Meryl, "Did she try to kill you too?" "What?" I exclaimed. "I just hope she doesn't get violent with me," said Auntie Meryl "People that think it's OK to go around killing people need locking up." "I said SUICIDE, not HOMICIDE!" I loudly said, "Good God."

I explained the situation to Auntie Meryl she eventually understood. She said she'd come around to see Mia later on, which she did and which Mia appreciated. Auntie Meryl went on to say that she's sorting out a Christmas get together for us all. I asked her what she meant and she said that she's spoken to Blade and arranged to use the function room in Cowes Conservative Club to have a Christmas gathering. I actually think it sounds like a good idea. She said she was speaking to Trudy about what to do for a Christmas dinner and that she'd spoken to some guy called Tam Greenock who she met at St Mary's hospital when she was having some tests done (not GRID test; the sort of tests old ladies have). "He lives just outside Sandown on the side other of the island," said Auntie Meryl, "He said him and his neighbour Naomi Jayne have got loads of junk in this garage they share, including lots of Christmas decorations so I've got Jon Blade to give me and you a lift there tomorrow and we can have a got rummage." "Me?" I exclaimed, "Why me?" "Oh, stop moaning," said Auntie Meryl, "Jon's giving me a lift and I need you to help me go through all the boxes in the garage. Apparently, there's loads of them." "Great," I sarcastically said, rolling my eyes. "Stop your whinging and help out your old Auntie," said Auntie Meryl.

Mia's seemed OK today. She's quiet but doing alright. She mooching around the house making tea, snacking on food and playing with Leo. It was nice to see her having a nice chat with Auntie Meryl when she came around to visit. "Now don't you go trying anything like that again," Auntie Meryl said to her, "Because if I find out you've even considered thinking about it, I will put you over my knee and spank your bare bottom until it's red raw." I think that was Auntie Meryl's way of communicating some love. Mia apologised to me or having a go at me the other day when I gathered everyone to see her but she said she wasn't sorry for standing up to Emily Elise. "If she comes around here again throwing her weight around, I'm going to wrap my clunge around her face," said Mia.

I still haven't spoken to Mia bout getting pregnant but it's a conversation we're going to have to have at some point; some point soon. Tomorrow I'm going to get someone to cover my shift at the reporting Station and go with Blade and Auntie Meryl to see this Tam guy and this Naomi woman to get stuff for this Christmas gathering. I'm looking forward to it,
