Entry 836
Friday 10th January 2019I'm back at home and I feel like sh*t.
I woke up in my clinical airtight cubical in GRID quarantine after getting a terrible night's sleep. The memories of Seth falling into the sewer and of Mia throwing herself of the roof of Forbidden Planet kept replaying in my mind.
After I'd been given my breakfast – which was delicious; eggs, mushrooms and tomatoes, I was assertively ushered out of my sterile cubical, down a pristine white corridor and into an interview room. With two-armed GRID soldiers behind him, Blade sat down opposite me at a small interview table, gave me a stern stare and proceeded to interrogate me. He spoke to me as if I'd done something wrong. "Right," he firmly said, "Let's not mess about. What the Hell happened out there, Luke?" "Oi, I haven't done anything wrong," I angrily said, "Why are you having a go at me. If you should be p*ssed off with anyone it should be your soldier Emily Elise. Everything that happened out there was because of her. I told you she was unstable but you didn't listen to me, did you?" "Well I can't speak to Emily, can I?" said a firm Blade, "She's dead." "Good," I snapped, "And I'm glad she's dead, and she's not the only one who's dead, is she?" "Luke, all I know is that I was doing you and your pals a favour," said Blade, "I organised that boat ride to cheer you all up. I sent out one boat, three GRID staff and eight residents and I end up with a sunken boat, one dead soldier, one missing soldier and one resident with a gun shot wound." "Oh, I'm sorry," I sarcastically said, "Is it a trauma for you? Maybe you should try being trapped under a building, running for your life from infected, being locked in a room, getting punched in the face and seeing your friend kill herself. All of which is due to YOUR psycho soldier, Emily Elise. She started a fight with Mia on the boat. She shot the skipper and she's responsible for the boat crashing into the red jet terminal and causing it to sink. She kidnapped Mia, tied her up in Forbidden Planet and then she shot Roz and punched me, so out of the two of us I think I'm the one that's been through the mill, not you." "Why would Emily do any of this?" asked Blade. "Because she was off her f*cking head," I exclaimed, "She hated Mia and blamed her for the outbreak and her family dying. It's because she's Harold's daughter. I told you all this ages ago." "How did she die?" asked Blade. "The infected got to her," I said, "There was fight between her and Mia," I said, "Mia ended up stabbing Emily in the eye with a pencil and then she opened up the back door and let in a load of infected who got to Emily." "So, Mia is responsible for Emily's death." "Yeah but have you listened to what I said?" I asked, "Emily was going to kill Mia." "You don't know that," said Blade. "Oh, wake up," I snapped, "She sunk the boat, kidnapped Mia and tied her up in an abandoned shop." "But she didn't kill Mia straight, away did she?" said Blade. "Why are you making excuses for her?" I snapped, "She was off her head. Me and Cyn were there. They were kicking the sh*t out of each other. It was kill or be killed. Mia knew that. Ask Cyn, she was there. She saw it all." "Well her story does match with yours," said Blade, "She also said Mia took her own life." "Yeah," I said. "Why would she do that?" Blade bluntly asked, "Guilt over killing Emily?" I frowned at Blade. "Mia's dead," I snapped, "How about a bit of compassion you heartless b*stard? Mia killed herself because she couldn't handle being hated for being the daughter of Harold Endo. She couldn't handle the fact that she had to pregnant because of what her Dad did to her. She didn't feel any guilt over what she did to Emily, and I wouldn't have felt any guilt either. Emily was evil. Mia was worth ten of her. Has anyone told Harold about Mia?" "No," said Blade, "We'll tell him later on today." "I want to tell him," I said. "You?" said Blade, "I didn't think you got on with Endo?" "I don't," I said, "But you don't exactly have a bedside manner. The man might be a total sociopath but his daughter's dead. I want to be the one to tell him." "Fine," said Blade, "I'll take you to see him tomorrow. I've got a lot to do today because of all this." "My heart bleeds," I said. "What about Seth?" asked Blade. "We were running from the infected," I said, "He fell into the sewer. Cyn tried to keep an eye on him using her iPad thingy but she lost him." "Yes, well I have soldiers combing the area and searching the sewers for Seth. If he's out there we'll find him." "Does Naomi know?" I asked. "Yes," said Blade, "She was told this morning. We'll do everything we can to find him. You know, you're lucky Cyn is a resourceful and skilled communicator with lots of knowledge. If she hadn't had found those fireworks then it might have taken us even longer to find you." "It took you long enough," I said. "Yes, well we were planning on taking one of the GRID helicopters if another day went by and we hadn't found you," said Blade. "Why didn't you do that as soon as we didn't come back?" I asked. "We have procedures to follow," said Blade, "Look, you've passed the quarantine phase so you can go home soon. Cyn insisted she looked after you and conducted some of the tests. She cares about you. Lots of people do. People are worried about you." Blade continued firing lots of questions at me and after a while I was free to go.
