Entry 846
Sunday 20th January 2019

What a day! Kyle's back but the day has ended in a rather unusual way that I never saw coming, but I've agreed to what's happened. I only hope I don't live to regret it. I have a feeling I might...

I took the day off work and walked over to GRID HQ ready to meet Blade and be reunited with my son. When arrived at GRID HQ, I walked into the reception area to see Roz and Richard were already there. I walked over to them and was about to ask them how they were, but before I had a chance to say anything Roz stood up and gave me a very stern stare. "Please tell me you don't think he's coming to stay with you," Roz bluntly said. "Good afternoon Roz," I sarcastically said, "It's lovely to see you too." "I mean it Luke," said Roz, "Jon told us that you thought Kyle could come and live with you, well you can get that idea right out of your head. He's my son." "Err... He's not, though is he? He's literally not your son. He's literally my son." "You're a stranger to him," Roz firmly said, "I'm the closest thing to a mother he's got." "I'm his parent," I said, "So I think you'll find I'm the closest thing to a mother he's got." "Luke, I was there when he was born. I brought him up. I wiped his arse. I took him to school. You didn't even know he existed until a few months ago." "Yeah and whose fault was that?" I snapped. "Please don't start fighting," said Richard, "I don't like it went people fight." "We're not fighting, Richard," said Roz, "I'm just telling Luke how it is, that's all." "Maybe we should let Kyle decide where he wants to live," I said. "Well he won't want to live with you," said Roz, "And I don't want you pressuring him when he gets out here like some cocky, arrogant man." "I'm not going to be pressuring anyone," I exclaimed, "You're the one throwing your weight around like some possessed, irrational woman." "Oh?" said an annoyed Roz, "So because I'm a woman I'm irrational?" "No!" I exclaimed, "Don't twist my words. Don't turn into a f*cking feminazi." "Feminazi!?" exclaimed Roz, "You're a sexist pig." "Sexist!?" I exclaimed, "It's OK for you to call me a cocky, arrogant man but when I call you a possessed, irrational woman that's sexist? Seriously? Talk about double standards!" "We went through Hell when we were on the mainland," said Roz, "I thought you'd grown up and started acting like an adult. You're still an annoying little man-child." "And you're still a moody, uptight dyke," I snapped. Our bickering was interrupted by a cough. Roz and I turned around to see Blade stood behind us with Kyle. "Kyle..." I said affectionately, as I became overwhelmed with a sense of emotion. He was stood next to Blade looking rather tired and withdrawn. His hair was a lot longer than when I last saw him and most of it was covering his face. He had a scar on his forehead, his complexion was pale and he'd lost a lot of weight. Roz approached him, flashed him a warm smile, flung her arms around him and gave him a big hug. "Oh, mate," she said, "It's so good to see you. Are you OK?" "Yeah, I'm alright," Kyle glumly said. Roz started faffing with Kyle's hair. "Oh, look how long your hair's got," she said, "And what's this scar on your head?" "He needed stitches," said Blade, "It was a bad cut but he'll be OK. He'll just have a scar." "A scar eh?" I said, "Pretty cool huh?" Roz turned and gave me an angry stare. "He's been injured, it's nothing to laugh at," Roz firmly said. Kyle gave me an unenthusiastic smile. "Hiya Luke," he said. I noticed he didn't call me Dad. I'm sure he called me Dad before. I smiled and took a step closer. There was an awkward exchange between us. I went to hug Kyle but it was clear he didn't want to hug me, but when he saw that I wanted to hug he went to hug me, but by that point I'd moved on, accepted he didn't want to hug me and I went to give him a handshake. This increased the awkwardness, Kyle and I ended up moving backwards and forwards from each other and I eventually ended up giving a really pathetic looking first bump to the arm. I hated to see it but I could see what Roz was saying; it was like we were strangers. "So, did you nearly die out there Kyle?" asked Richard? "Oh Richard, shut up," said Roz, "All that matters now is that Kyle's back where he belongs and he's coming home with us." "Well..." I said. "Come on," said Roz, interrupting me, "I'll show you where we're living. We've gas, electricity and hot and cold running water. A step up from the zoo eh?" "So, where will Kyle be living then?" asked Blade. "With me and Richard," said Roz. "Is that OK with you, Kyle?" asked Blade. "Err..." said Kyle. "Of course, it's OK with him," said. "Why don't you let him speak for himself," I firmly said. "I haven't really thought about it," said Kyle. "He's coming with me and Richard," Roz, firmly said. "You've just been shot," I snapped, "You can't look after a teenager." "I could have been shot, stabbed and hanged and I'd still be in a more fit state than you to look after a teenager," snapped Roz. "How come you got shot?" Kyle asked Roz. "I'll tell you later mate," said Roz. "Look, why don't you all go to Sails and get something to eat?" said Blade, "You can all have a chat about where Kyle wants to live then. As long as someone radios through to me and lets me know, that'll be fine. Come on. I'll give you a lift."
