Entry 944
Sunday 28th April 2019

I'm back at home with TJ, Mike, Trudy and Primark, but tomorrow I'm moving back in with Mum and Leo.

The day started when, after having a nice hot breakfast in quarantine I was told that my test results had come back all clear (which I knew they would). I was then escorted into an interview room where I sat at a small table and waited for Blade to arrive and start firing questions at me. He didn't keep me waiting too long. He entered the room with Helen Harvey and they both sat down, opposite me at the little table. I noticed how tired Blade looked. His face was pale and he had huge bags under his eyes. "God," I said, "Are you OK? You look like sh*t." "Well, thank you Luke," Blade sarcastically said, "I knew I could rely on you to make me feel better. I probably wouldn't look as bad as I do if runaway teenagers and his extended family and friends weren't running out to the mainland every five minutes." "Oi," I snapped, "If we hadn't have gone over to the mainland, I'd have never found Kyle." "And if you'd have never gone over to the mainland you wouldn't have got kidnapped, two men wouldn't have been tortured and Rona Phillips wouldn't have died," said an angry Blade. "Rona died because you left us to it!" I angrily snapped, "If you'd have sent over some GRID soldiers, rather than leaving us to go looking for Kyle alone whilst you shacked up with Natasha having some beers, Rona might still be alive!" "No," said a firm Blade, pointing his finger at me, "I will not be blamed for the death of Rona. "And neither will I!" I snapped, "And as for the two men you said were tortured; they were both a pair of paedophiles. They deserved what they got." "It's not your job to dish out justice and take the law into your own hands," said Blade. "Maybe not here on the island, but on the mainland it's every man for himself. They sexually abused my son." "Oh," said Blade, "That'll be the son that you were so keen for me to send soldiers to go and find, but whom you just let drive off with a load of young boys when you did find him. I'm bl**dy glad I didn't send any soldiers over." "Thanks," I bluntly said. "Well, what do you want me to say Luke?" said Blade, "One minute you're jetting off to Egypt, you're back two minutes and then you get stranded on the mainland. Trouble seems to follow you, Luke, and I'm sick of it. The amount of GRID resources that have been spent on you and your mates is astronomical. I'm going to be making an announcement tomorrow. No more trips to the mainland by non-GRID personnel unless they are authorised by me." "So much for this island not being a prison," I said. "Oh don't get me wrong, Luke," said Blade, "If you want to head off over to the mainland, I can't stop you and I won't stop you but I also won't come looking for you if you get into trouble." I saw Helen give Blade a look that suggested she was surprised to hear him saying this. "Perhaps that's something we could talk about later," said Helen. "No," said a firm Blade, "My mind is made up. No more trips to the mainland, and if you or anyone else does go to the mainland and you get stuck; you're on your own." "We're already on our own," I said, "A fifteen-year-old lad ran off and you did nothing. Nothing. Anyway, why am I in here? You obviously know everything." "I've spoken to Ash," said Blade, "He told me everything." "So, what do you need me for?" I snapped. "I want to hear your side of the story," said Blade. "You could have fooled me," I said. "Just tell me what happened," said Blade, "Start from the point of when you were grabbed."

I explained everything to Blade; from the point where we had that sh*t sprayed in our eyes, right up to the point where I tied up Ficks and left the mainland on the boat with Ash. "Ash said you went mad," said Helen, "Tortured those two men; one of whom was laid on a bed with two broken legs." "Mad is a bit over the top," I said, "And I think tortured is a bit strong." "Stabbing an unarmed, injured man in the shoulder, carving the letter 'K' into his head and then setting fire to his eye is something you don't consider torture?" said Helen. "I call it getting your just deserts," I said, "That man just stood there and let that fat bloke, Jed Ficks abuse those boys. Boys that were aged eight to ten years old. The b*stard knew Ficks was sexually abusing my son and he did nothing. Nothing at all. He just turned a blind eye. Well now he doesn't have an eye to turn." "Sounds to me like you went too far," said Blade. "I don't care what you think," I said, "Those men deserved everything they got." "My men go to the mainland every day and spend time looking for survivors," said Blade, "Why shouldn't we just go to Southampton, go into Ikea and bring this Jed Ficks over here." "Are you deaf?" I bluntly said, "They were a pair of paedos. Well, one of them was, the other one just stood there and let it all happen. You'd send soldiers over there to bring back a man who sexually abused kids, but you wouldn't send soldiers over there to search for my son. What the Hell is wrong with you?" "Luke, when soldiers go to the mainland to look for survivors, and on the rare occasion we find them, we can't make them come back with us. Most people do want rescuing, but those that don't can't be forced to come over here. Your son left this island willingly and didn't want to come back. He's fifteen, not five, but this Jed Ficks guy; yes, he might be a paedophile but it sounds like he needs help. Two broken legs and tied to a bed." "Luke, I don't like paedophiles," said Helen, "But I also don't like unarmed men getting attacked." "And I don't like little boys being sexually abused," I firmly snapped, "If you bring that dirty old perv to this island, I will tell everyone and you will have a big problem on your hands. People weren't happy when Kyle killed Ella Jones. Imagine how p*ssed off they'll be if they find out you bring a child sex offender to the island." Helen and Blade exchanged concerning looks. "You just want a quiet life?" I said, "Want to get all this QCUC sorted without any hassle, well leave that paedo on the mainland to rot." "Luke, if you'd have done what you did to the man on the mainland, here on the island, you'd have been put in prison," said Blade. "Well, it's a good job I did it on the mainland," I said, "And let me tell you this. I'm glad I did it, I don't regret it, and if I had to do it all over again I wouldn't change a thing. I'm just sorry I didn't finish off the fat old perv." "I can't believe you put all this pressure on Jon to send soldiers over to find Kyle, and then when you do find him you just let him go," exclaimed Helen. "It wasn't as simple as that," I said, "He didn't want to come back here." "Well, that was obvious from the fact that he left," said Blade. "He thought that everyone would just remember him as the kid who killed that little girl and waved a gun at people." "I guess that's how most people will remember him," said Blade, "Because that's what he did." "Maybe if you'd have pulled your finger out and looked after him, he wouldn't have felt the need to run off," I snapped, "Maybe he'd have come back to the island with me." "I'm not his Dad," snapped Blade, "That's YOUR job. Your son waved a gun at all of those people after he killed that little girl. It's not something people forget Luke, and remember I got him counselling. I got him out of prison." "Only because we made a deal where you didn't want people to know that it was Tara and not GRID that stopped the world from being nuked.... Oh God," I said, suddenly realising something, "You're glad Kyle's gone off, aren't you? Just another person who knows about your secret who is out of the way." "Luke, that's enough," said Blade. "So now who's left?" I said, "Me and Roz? Do you want us out of the way?" "Luke, I said that's enough," said Blade, increasing the authority in his voice. "No wonder you're not going to come looking for us if we get stuck on the mainland," I snapped. "ENOUGH!" Blade angrily shouted as he slammed his fist on the table. I jumped back as his loud voice scared me a bit. Blade closed his eyes, took a deep breath and tried to compose himself. "Keep that paedo on the mainland and I won't say anything," I said. "I will not be blackmailed," said a firm Blade. "Not blackmail," I said, "Just a deal." "Now listen to me, Luke," said Blade, "I don't want anyone knowing about what Tara did. We had an agreement." "That was when Kyle was here," I said, "He's not here now." "Don't p*ss me off, Luke," Blade firmly said, "If you or Roz say a word to anyone about Tara stopping the nukes, I will come down on you like a ton of bricks. You have caused enough trouble and taken up enough of my time, and I will not let you take up anymore. I mean it Luke; Keep... Your mouth... Shut." I actually felt slightly scared and threatened by Blade's words. There was certainly a sense of intimidation in his voice. Silence lingered for a moment. "That paedo can stay where he is," said Blade. "Good," I said, "I just want to go and see my son." "Fine," said Blade, "But I want you to keep your head down, stop getting involved in trouble and stay out of my way." "Sounds good to me," I said.
