She wasn't evil per say, but you knew your girlfriend stole whatever she could in order to have enough to treat you to a nice night. You had begun dating Emerald just as college began and the two of you had hit it off pretty well. Sure she did have a criminal background and enjoyed steeling a few things here and there, but she was never the devil's offspring to say. She was a nice girl deep down who needed to live.

The thing was she also would refuse to steel from you or accept your money when she needed the funding. You didn't get it, but you weren't about to question it either. You and her had bought a small apartment near Beacon Academy where you attended school in order to see what life living together would actually be like. It wasn't the nicest thing in the universe, but it was still home to you both. It was your final year of schooling for Emerald as she was about to receive her bachelor degree in accounting.

You, in the meantime, were accepted for Beacon's grad program in computer science. Emerald always joked that if our careers completely failed we could enter the world as master thieves and criminals. You were quick to shoot her dream down and stop her in her tracks. While a thrilling lifestyle, you both knew it was A.) a bad idea and B.) Just really stupid. But's what made you guys. Sure, you two were stupid. But it was your kind of stupid that was what you always wanted.

Currently, you were working at your job in the academy, running the school's bookstore. You had worked up and through the ranks of the store and now was the manger, answering only to the head of school work management, Glynda Goodwitch. While you worked there, Emerald worked down at one of the school's many restaurants, mainly as a barista. The night came onto the school and you sent the other students home for the night and closed down the store. You began walking and saw Emerald was still on her shift.

You smirked and walked into the store. When she saw you, she kept her neutral look.

Emerald: Hello, welcome to Beacon's Brewery. What can I get you today?

(Y/N): A nice steaming hot girlfriend to go.

Emerald: What time is it again?

(Y/N): 9:55.

Emerald: Shift ends in 5 minutes can you-

(Y/N): I know, I know. Just get two of the regulars and I'll wait for you.

Emerald: Got it. Thanks, Babe.

Emerald made the two coffees, one for you and the other for herself and handed them over to you. You always bought a small brownie for yourself while you waited. Emerald went into the back to punch in her time and you read over some comics and ate. While back there, Emerald's boss, Cinder, walked up to her.

Cinder: (Y/N) here to get you?

Emerald: Yeah. Don't need a ride tonight.

Cinder: Ok, but you know, if you do-

Emerald: Cinder. I know.

Cinder: Hey, it's what dorm mates do. Now or former.

Emerald: Speaking of, how is Roz? She nice or-

Cinder: Well...she's different. That doesn't really matter. Get going. Have a nice night. And hey, have you told him yet?

Emerald: What? No! If I tell him he's going to freak out. And he's got a grad program to worry about.

Cinder: Well, you better want to act fast on it. We're graduating in 4 months.

Emerald: Well, that's why I got that internship and soon to be full time job at that accountant firm.
