Mumei pov: I paced back and forth in the council room, just wondering what was next and why I wasn't immediately targeted for the vessel fusion process. Kiara, Reine, Zeta, Kaela, and Selen stared at me as I questioned everything.
"Mumei, why are you so worried?" Reine asked
"Nerissa might be in danger."
Kiara hugged me from behind. "How so?"
"I have a theory-I'm still being hunted."
Reine nodded. "But what does Nerissa have to do with that?" She asked
"She is our newest sister's fresh meat to lure us out with and maybe make an exchange for..." I said
"Well, as long as she doesn't see you as her sister, it should be fine!" Zeta mentioned
"One problem... she has always viewed herself as such; never once has she thought otherwise despite her vulgar words."
"Mumei, lunch is ready," Fauna said sweetly.
I looked at the kirin and smiled, "Thank you." I giggled at her. Kronii stepped into the room, putting tea down next to the bento. "Thank you," I said to her as well.
"Kiara, we are going home." Calli said coldly
"Wifey, is something wrong?" Kiara asked
"Wife-Wifey!" Calli shouted in shock.
"Don't be in a sour mood; it makes me sad." Kiwawa pouted
"Got it!" Calli shouted
"So can we stay here for longer?" She asked
"Anything for you, I'll just call Ollie!" Calli stated
Reine turned to Kiara, who was clearly full of glee, and said, "You are very manipulative."
Kiara laughed at that, saying, "It's all in the game, my sweet peafowl princess." She told her
"Mumei, is your little sister that strong?" Selen asked me
"She'd kick your ass." I said
"But I'm stronger than you." Selen said
"That isn't even true; I've far surpassed you."
I clearly ticked Selen off as she powered up. "Want to test that!?" She yelled
"Pass" is all I said in response to the challenge.
"Are you afraid to fight me all of a sudden?" Selen asked
"Of course not. After all, I know I'll win with ease." I yawned.
"Quit acting like you are stronger than me!" Selen whined
"Fine, I will stop acting; I'll just be confident in the facts and show reality that I have surpassed you years ago." I said
"Do you want to test that theory?" Selen asked
"As I already said, pass. I don't want to fight you all the time because you misunderstand what it means to be a rival," I claimed.
"Mumei, Nerissa is going to be okay, right?" Reine asked
"Yeah, one could hope," Kiara said.
I nudged her arm angrily, getting her to stop talking like that, although she was being funny.
Kiara, are we going home yet?" A small voice asked
"Pomu, why and when did you get on my shoulder?" Kiara asked
"For about a minute," She responded.
"A minute ago we were..."
Kiara tried to think about what we were doing, but I flicked her off the girl's shoulder and said, "You followed us..." I sighed
"Calli trapped me in the fucking ash jar!" Pomu yelled
"Speaking of which, can you go home?" Kiara said
"Yeah, Selen, and I want to live with you!" Pomu said
"I don't remember agreeing with that." Selen said
"I live with Kiara." I sighed
Selen perked up as it seemed she was now interested in moving in, knowing that I would be there for her to fight...
"Let's go over the main issue," I said as I took a bite out of the bento box made for me.
"Meimei! Seven more groups of convicts have been rounded up!" Sana cheered
I smirked at that revilation. Of course, that isn't our problem. The council is just here to overlook things. Holox needs to show their leadership in this moment.
"Sana, pull up all of Shiori's hidden archives," I said.
Really, Meimei, that seems like it would be hard to do." Sana claimed
"Where is Bae? She is late to the council meeting; she enforced..." I sighed
"Shit-I didn't mean to call for a meeting!" Bae yelled
"Why would you have the buzzer on our bed while we were having-" Irys paused and stood there in embarrassment. We weren't supposed to hear that.
"You are late, Bae, and just so you know, next time you accidentally call a meeting, your head will be on display.
"Excuse me, Mumei!? Was that a threat!?" The rat asked
"It wasn't a date invitation." I said
Wait, those are on the table, senpai?" Zeta said with interest, only to be hit by Kaela.
"Damn it, that hurt!" Zeta cried out.
Wait, aren't you modified? Physical attacks shouldn't do anything to you, right?" Selen asked
She punched Zeta with her non-dragon hand and hurt it. "Oww!" The dragon girl hissed.
"Bae, we can't sit around and do nothing; we need to keep on our toes. We will keep battling with those five escapees until my plan comes to fruition," I said.
"But that is crazy! Won't we be strengthening convicts!" Bae asked
Exactly," I said.
Bae seemed to be thrown off by such an idea, but since I wield more power than her, she has no option but to agree with me.
We aren't going about this half-assed; we can't afford to. After all, this is serious now; more than the world is at stake, and I can't help but think part of this is Kiara's and my fault.
"I wonder how Rissa is doing," Kiara said.
"She probably went somewhere to rest and get back to 100 percent," I claimed.
"Really? Well, then we should drop in," Bae said.
Wrong, we will leave her alone," Reine said.
"You birds all agree with one another; it is so irritating because you purposely conspire against me." Bae stated
"Well, one because you are a light snack, and two because birds of a feather flock together," I said.
"That saying makes zero sense!" Bae yelled
Reine and Kiara looked at me, and we all sighed, chasing Bae out of the room.
