Of Angels and Demons

First Day [Chapter 1]

"Mmm, damn I slept like a rock last night."

I quietly say to myself as I sit up in my bed rubbing my eyes.

"KAI, GET YOUR LAZY BUTT OUT OF BED!"

Screams my mom from downstairs.

Jeez she's always rushed me to get moving, to do school work, and just to grow up. But oh well.

"I'll be down in a minute, mom."

I yell back to her. I quickly throw on my black shirt and black pants and run down stairs. I run into the kitchen to see cookies on the counter.

"Yay, cookies!"

I yell. My mom laughs slightly and keeps washing dishes. I grab a plastic bag and fill it with cookies.

"Thanks mom."

I say as I'm walking back to my room.

"Be ready Kai, the bus should be here in 10 minutes."

She says. I quickly run to the bathroom and brush my teeth before grabbing my backpack and running out the door to get on the bus. Giving a quick peace sign to my mom as I jump on the bus. As I get on the bus I quickly look around for a seat. I spot a empty row of seats in the back. I walk back to the seats and sit down. I put my music in and get lost in thought.

A few minutes passed then I looked up and saw we were stopping. I see some people get on the bus and the people on the first row scoot over for them to sit down. The last person to get on the bus is wearing a hoodie.

"A hoodie, in the summer? Are they crazy?"

I mumble to myself. The person slowly scans the seats and walks back to me, then pulls the hoodies hood back. It's a girl, she sits next to me and puts her music in too. She has long black hair with flaming red tips. I stare at her for a moment.

"Hey, what's your name?"

I ask her. She doesn't even move.

Hm, I guess she didn't hear me.

I think to myself. I tap her shoulder and she slightly moves her head and looks at me, then she takes one earphone out. I see she has blue eyes.

"What's your name?"

I ask again.

"You can call me Aziria. My last name is Lovelace. What's your name?"

She quietly says.

"My names Kai Narukami, nice to meet you."

I reply with a smile. She stares at me for a moment then the bus stops at school. She quickly gets up and gets off the bus.

Well I guess she already dislikes me.

I think to myself.

This day is going great already.

I stand up and slowly walk off the bus, being the last one off as I've always been. I look up and read the school name board.

Carson County High school huh? Well nice to know the name is the same.

I walk inside the school to see crowds of people hugging and talking, people that haven't seen their friends all summer. I slowly walk down the hall checking out all of the new teachers standing outside their classes.

These teachers look like they'll be soft on students.

I think to myself as I walk through the English and Math hall.
