He can have compassion on those who are ignorant and going astray, since he himself is also subject to weakness.
Because of this he is required as for the people, so also God himself, to offer sacrifices for sins.
And no man takes this honor to himself, but he who is called by God, just as Aaron was.
So also Christ did not glorify Himself to become High Priest, but it was He who said to Him:

     "You are My Son,
       Today I have begotten You."

       As He also says in another place:

      "You are a priest forever
       According to the order of
               Melchizedek";

      who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear,
though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things He suffered.
And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, called by God as High Priest "according to the order of Melchizedek,"
Hebrews 5:2-10

    It is written,  "according to the order of Melchizedek," so I don't think Jesus is Melchizedek.  Honestly, Jesus has enough responsibility - the a Son of God and the Messiah.  Found something in
Hebrews 7:2-4 -

to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all, first being translated "king of righteousness," and then also king of Salem, meaning "king of peace,"
without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, remains a priest continually.
Now consider how great this man was, to whom even the patriarch Abraham gave a tenth of spoils.

     I wrote about Melchizedek quite a bit later, won't change it because I opened to it.  I really wanted to know about Melchizedek's identity, but he is the priest of God Most High.  Only God knows his identity; I have a feeling that is how He wants it. Tell God you love Him.

The LORD bless you and keep you;
The LORD make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The LORD lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.

     Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.  Please read your Bible.
