Your Pov:

I sat outside under a tree watching Phoenix and his new girlfriend, Dahlia Hawthorne. My lunch sat discarded next to me. Phoenix was my best friend. He may have been a little sensitive and about of a crybaby, but that's what made him unique. Then, when Dahlia came into the picture, everything changed. Whenever Phoenix wanted to hang out with me, she'd do something to make him change his mind.

For example, Phoenix and I were going to go bowling. She went to his dorm and told him that her dog died. Thing is, she doesn't even have a dog. And, as soon as he told me we couldn't hang out, she stopped crying. I couldn't stand her. She was a snake. A demon in a human body. But because Phoenix liked her, I supported his decision. I gave him advice for dates and other things.

Then, one day, everything changed. Phoenix was arrested for the murder of Doug Swallow. To make things even worse, Dahlia was going to be called as a witness. Deep down, I had the suspicion that she killed him. After the trial, I was right. She killed him and made sure to get her point across to Phoenix that she hated his guts. I could tell that he was hurting but I left him alone. I was still trying to heal myself. I was in my dorm when he came to see me one rainy day.

He stood in my dorm, his jacket was wet from the rain. We sat on the couch and he spoke, "How are you feeling? You've been missing class a lot. I wanted to make sure you were alright." Every word out of his mouth made me feel like a shaken soda bottle. I was ready to explode. I spoke, "I'm fine. Just not feeling too well." He looked at me, "Do you need any-" I snapped and cut him off, "No. Just, leave please. I can't do this right now." He shook his head, "No. I won't leave until you tell me what's wrong." 

I yelled at him, "You're what's wrong! I've loved you since the beginning, but you were too blind to see it! Little did you know how I was feeling when you started dating her!" He flinched back, "(Y-Y/n), I never meant to make you upset. Can I tell you something?" I stayed silent. He continued, "I also came here to say that...I like you. A lot." I scoffed, "You don't get to do this to me! I waited for you until I couldn't wait anymore! I'm done!"

He grabbed my hands, "What do you mean you're done? I want to be with you!" I pulled away from him, "Well, I don't want to be with you! You can't play with my feelings like this and expect me to run into your arms! I can't just magically forget about what happened." I stood up, "Get out." He looked up at me, "W-What?" I threw one of my text books at him, "Get out! Get out!" He grabbed his coat and left. I slammed the door behind him.

Then, I slid down the door and started to cry. Why did I end up this way? Why can't I have a happy ending?
