Red String of Fate (Miles Edgeworth x Reader) Soulmate AU

Your Pov:

That stupid red string had haunted me for as long as I can remember. A lot of people find their soul mates in the times between middle school and high school. I was not one of them. All of my friends found their soul mates before I did. Once I started college, I thought I'd have another chance, but I still couldn't find my soul mate. I became friends with a guy named Phoenix during my second year.

We were both studying to become lawyers and had a lot of the same classes. By the time Phoenix and I graduated, I still hadn't found my soulmate. Both Phoenix and I worked in the Fey and Co. law offices under the guidance of Mia Fey.

Phoenix took on his first case and won. I was proud of him. Then, when Mia was murdered, Phoenix let me take her trial. We went investigated the scene and got ready for the trial the next day. I woke up early the next day with a weird feeling in my stomach. I got ready and headed over to the court house. Once I got inside, I noticed that my string was glowing brighter.

I shrugged it off and eventually found Phoenix. We went over the autopsy report and the court record until it was time to head into the courtroom. Phoenix and I walked in, ready to get this case done.

We stood at the bench and waited for the judge. I looked across to the prosecution and almost fainted in shock. The red string was very visible now. It led from me to him. He looked just as shocked as I did. I turned to Phoenix, "I don't think I can do this anymore!" He looked at me in shock, "Why not?" I hurriedly spoke, "The prosecutor over there is my soulmate."

Phoenix sighed and nodded, "Fine, but it's only because I know that you'll embarrass yourself in front of him." We switched places and the trial began.

The trial went on for a few hours until they called Redd White to the stand. I had a hunch that he was the murderer and it seemed that Phoenix thought the same. The trial continued on for a few more hours until White admitted his guilt to the court. Edgeworth (Phoenix told me his name during the trial) made the trial a lot harder with his updated autopsy reports and witness 'confessions'.

Court was adjourned and we headed back to the lobby. Phoenix and I spoke for a moment before he pointed behind me. I turned and saw Edgeworth. Phoenix excused himself to the bathroom and left.

I looked at Edgeworth, "It's nice to finally meet you." He smirked, "It's nice to meet you as well. I didn't expect you to be a lawyer. Talented and beautiful. What a gift." I blushed, "T-Thanks." He looked at me, "Would you do me the honor of going on a date with me?" I nodded, "Of course." He spoke, "How does tomorrow at 7 sound?" I smiled, "It sounds perfect."

Maybe that red string isn't so bad...
