(Phoenix x Reader)

Your Pov:

Phoenix, Trucy, and I walked in the Halloween store. Halloween was coming up soon and Trucy needed a costume. I was also dressing up, seeing as I was the one taking Trucy trick or treating since Phoenix had to work. Trucy went off to look at the teen costumes while Phoenix and I went to the women's section. I looked around, seeing what costume trends were popular this year. I picked up an Egyptian dancer costume, a Pocahontas costume, and a 1950's sock hop costume with leather pants instead of a poodle skirt.

We went to the dressing rooms. I hurried into one and locked the door. The first costume I tried on was the Egyptian dancer. It was two pieces as showed a bit of my stomach. As I stared at myself in the mirror, I began to feel gross. I felt fatter than ever. I heard Phoenix call from outside the door, "Does it fit?" I sighed quietly and opened the door. Phoenix looked at me, smiling, "That looks really good on you. And you said a size small was too small." I smiled weakly.

"Thanks, but, I don't think this is it." I went back into the dressing room and took off the outfit, handing it to Phoenix over the top of the door. I tried on the Pocahontas costume next. It felt wrong on me. I looked at the picture on the bag. The dress outlined the girl's curves and pushed her breasts up slightly. I looked in the mirror. The dress was baggy on my curves and my breasts were too small for the dress to push up. I called to Phoenix, "I don't like this one."

Phoenix spoke up, "Ok. Try the next one!" I grabbed the 1950's costume and slipped it on. I looked in the mirror. My stomach poked out a bit in the jacket I was wearing. My hips looked too big in the pants. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, trying to avoid my thoughts.

'Fatass!'

'A size small is too small for you!'

'How can Phoenix even love you?'

I changed out of the outfit and put my own clothes back on. I paused and sat on the little seat in the dressing room. I put my head in my hands and silently started to cry. I heard Phoenix speak, "(Y/n), are you ok?" I spoke, "Y-Yeah." My voice cracked and I winced. He approached the door, "(Y/n)? Can you open the door please?" I leaned over and unlocked the door. Phoenix stepped inside, eyes widening after seeing my face. He kneeled in front of me, "What's wrong?" I bit my lip.

"I hate my body!" Phoenix held my hands, "(Y/n), no. Don't say that about yourself." I spoke up, "Why not? The girls in the pictures wear the clothes so well, but when I try them on, I look horrible." He gripped my hands tighter, "So what if you don't look like them? Everyone is different! It shouldn't matter what it looks like on the picture. What should matter is you. As long as you like the costume, how big or small it makes you look shouldn't matter. I love you."

"I don't want you to change. Ever."

I wiped my tears, feeling a lot better, "Thank you, Phoenix. I love you too." After that, I managed to decide on (Costume). Trucy picked out a cute costume of her own. As we left the Halloween store, my heart felt lighter.
