Broken (Depressed! Miles Edgeworth x Therapist! Reader)

Your Pov:

I sat in my office filing patient records. I had one last appointment today. I sighed. Being a therapist is hard. When a patient comes in, I actually listen to them, and they get surprised because other therapists didn't care for them or their troubles. I let them ease their burdens onto me. This job may be hard, but it's worth it to help the people who need it. I was knocked out of my thoughts by a knock on the door. I looked up, "Come in." The door opened to reveal one of my regulars: Miles Edgeworth.

I smiled at him, "Come in, Miles. Sit." He came in and sat down, "Good afternoon, Ms. (L/n)." I put the last file away and faced him, "So, how was your day?" He tensed, "I...I had the nightmare again." I tilted my head, "About your father?" He nodded, "Yes. I think it's the cause of my insomnia." I nodded, "It could be. For now, just tell me about your day. Everything." Miles spoke, "I went to work and had a trial. I won the trial, but it didn't make me feel happy." I noticed his hands shaking, "How did it make you feel?" He frowned, "It didn't make me feel anything." I was looking through my drawers for that book when he spoke, "Can you possibly prescribe me some anti-depressants?"

I tensed in shock, pulling the book out of the desk, "I-I can't do that Miles. But I do have a better option." I handed him the book, "Read this, please. It's called I'm Ok. You're Ok. I want you to read this when you go home and if you still want the anti-depressants when you come back, I'll prescribe them for you." He nodded, "Alright. Thank you." He took the book and left. After that, I packed up my things and headed home. I hoped that he would change his mind after reading that.

The next day, he came to see my again. He sat down and handed me the book. I looked at him, "Well?" He shook his head, "Ms. (L/n), I don't want the pills anymore." I nodded, "Alright. Did the book help you any?" He looked at me, "Yes. A lot actually." I smiled, "That's wonderful, Miles. Tell me, did you have the nightmare again?" He shook his head, "Surprisingly, no. I actually slept through the night." I tilted my head, "You don't need me anymore then."

He looked at me, "What do you mean?" I sighed, "The goal of these sessions was to get the nightmare of your father's passing to stop recurring. And it stopped." I continued, "Another thing is your depression. You refused anti-depressants, showing that you know that you don't need the pills to feel better." He sighed, "I guess you're right, but, Ms. (L/n)?" I smiled, "Yes, Miles?" He spoke, "Thank you."

He turned to leave and I spoke, "You're welcome." He gave me one last look and left my office for good.

But I smiled. I helped him recover.

So, thank you Miles, for letting me help you...
