What you see isn't always what you get

Hearing her cell gate open, Rosé sat up. She frowned as she saw the head guard. Was she going to get another cell mate? She wondered. They hadn't put anyone new with her since the last one they dragged out earlier in the week.

"Get up," he barked, and she raised a disdained eyebrow. Crawling back into his skin a little he coughed, "Uhm you have a visitor," he said more softly, and she stood up to follow him.

Not seeing her in her room, Kai closed the door and went to knock on Irene's door.

"Hey have you seen Jennie?"

"Nope," she shrugged and continued reading. Frowning Kai thanked her and moved to knock on Moonbyul's door to hear if she knew where the brunette went.

Jaehyun nearly fell out of his seat when he saw Hyuna standing in front of him. Rushing to close the office door, he placed an occupied sign on it, not wanting any of the students interrupting them.

"What are you doing here?" he hugged her and she kissed his cheek in return.

"Came to save your guys asses," she smirked.

"Really?"

"Yeah, Tae said you're in a pickle. Besides things aren't going well on our side either so its best that everyone just comes back," she explained.

"Oh! So Taemin got out in time. That's good," smiled Jaehyun, "But what's been happening?"

"Let's go to the others so that I don't have to repeat myself," she peered out of his window and saw students walk across the campus.

"Okay, let me just ask one of my colleagues to take over my class later today," he mumbled as he reached for his jacket and keys.

Biting her lip as she heard the door close behind her, Rosé shifted nervously.

"Hi," said Jennie and Rosé pouted and stepped forward.

"Hello," she said softly and Jennie's eyes lowered as she fiddled with her hands. Rosé walked up to her but made sure to stand a few steps away.

"Is it okay for you to see me? I don't want you to get in trouble," said Rosé as she sat down in the chair.

"It's okay I think," mumbled Jennie. They were quiet for some moments, the tension between them almost palpable.

Talk to her!

Both Jennie and Rosé flinched as they heard Steza and Holland respectively encourage them to begin talking. Sighing Rosé looked at Jennie and the brunette realised Rosé's eyes were as endless as ever.

"I miss you," they said simultaneously, and both looked away sadly.

"This is the last place I wanted to see you in," sighed Jennie.

"Really? You were investigating me after all," grinned Rosé and Jennie looked down guiltily, "That was a joke Jen."

"Oh," she said softly.

"Jen, I, " Rosé tapped her fingers on the table, "Can I touch you?" it came out in a whisper but Jennie smiled gently as she reached for the blonde's hands. Feeling their fingers intertwine Rosé felt more at ease.

"I'm sorry Rosé. For not being honest to you. I didn't expect things to turn out this way when I took on the job. I," Jennie didn't know how to explain herself.

"It's okay love," Rosé bent down to kiss her hands, "I knew what you were doing. You were just doing your job."

"Doesn't mean my feelings for you aren't genuine," said Jennie confidently as she squeezed Rosé's hands tightly.

"I'm glad," smiled Rosé tentatively, "Jen I need to tell you something really important. And baby please I need you to listen carefully okay," said Rosé giving Jennie a serious look.

"Okay," nodded the brunette.

"Holland told me that Steza's been in contact with you," began Rosé and Jennie's eyes shot out.

"How'd you," Rosé cut her off.

"Wait, let me finish. I don't know how much time we have, " she glanced at the door, "It's difficult to explain it using English. My native language doesn't translate well. But bear with me love. Everything Steza's told you is true. She's your meta and I don't know if she's explained what that means but just know it's true," said Rosé.

"I'm not really from this "world". We call it narratives but it's similar concepts. I'm from a different "world". I came here to come and fetch you because you actually belong in the "world" that I'm from. But because of a curse placed on my family we were separated but we belong together. I came here to take you home with me so that we can finally be together."

Jennie didn't say anything as she continued talking.

"We're going to get married. You're going to have my children. I've pledged to make sure that we have a beautiful future together as well as securing a good future for our children. But there's a lot of things that are in the way that we need to tackle first. I've created a technology that allows us to travel between different worlds. We're going to use it to take you home. You're my soulmate. You'll always be my soulmate and I have spent my entire life searching for you. I refuse to lose any more time with you," said Rosé.

"We need to get back to the original narrative Jen. You need to come back home with me. Please, once I'm out of here I ask that you come back with me. You need to come back," she heard some movement at the door.

"I know this sounds fucking crazy. But it isn't. The dreams your having are glimpses into other narratives. Where our other versions are. Jen, you have to come back. The technology is reaching its limit and we don't have much time. We have to get out of this narrative as soon as possible," said Rosé.

She was about to continue but then the door opened. Their time was over. The guards came to escort her out. Giving Jennie a desperate look, Rosé hoped that Jennie believed her. But she could see that the brunette was overwhelmed by the wave of information. The guards directed her out and before she could even muster out a goodbye Jennie saw that Rosé was gone.
