Pressed outside the door of the building your partner and his fellow group of eternals had gone inside to speak privately, you tried your hardest to listen through the thick wood of the door. Too nosy for your own good, but also not wanting to face the centuries old, gifted eternals who had a general distaste for your significant other- and no significant reason to care any differently about you- you waited outside.
You heard the bickering between Druig and his fellow beings and leaned in closer, trying to make out the sound of the others' voices and distinguish one from the other. However, when a loud bird cawed right beside your head, you threw yourself against the wood in surprise, the heavy door falling open as you came stumbling into the building with it.
"I've also directed-" Kingo was sharply cut off as the sound of the large door echoed throughout the room and the eternals whipped their heads around to be met with... you.
You had never wanted to fade from existence and someone's vision so bad in your entire life.
When Druig's eyes landed on you, you could tell that he was upset, but by the way his shoulders fell, you could also tell that he pitied you.
"That's what you get for eavesdropping." You heard your partner's voice say in your mind.
"You knew I was eavesdropping?" You thought, still frozen in your spot.
You watched as Druig sighed, his mouth remaining closed.
"My, dove," His voice said. "I love you, but you think so... so loud."
If you hadn't already been feeling your cheeks burn up, you swore that if someone now touched their fingertips against your skin they would get a third degree burn.
Adjusting yourself, you stood up straight in the middle of the aisle of benches and wrapped your arms tightly around yourself- somehow wishing it would make you more invisible despite the fact that you could physically feel the eyes of the others' in the room glued onto you- the unknown that had interrupted their important conversation.
"Ah look," Ikaris said. "One of the minions he's brainwashed. Get sick of arguing and sent in one of your recruits to cut the conversation short, Druig?"
You couldn't help but grimace at Ikaris' words, knowing how they felt about your partner and his abilities. Although he did have the ability to read minds and control others, he would never do it for his own personal, selfish gain- especially not to you.
When you glanced over at Druig, you could tell he felt the same disgust at the accusation as you did.
You were so used to the pacifist, non-combatant side of your partner that when Druig chuckled and shook his head at the other eternal's words, you were taken by surprise.
"Just like always, Ikaris," Druig said. "You're wrong."
Druig's back had been turned to the eternal, but after his insult he turned around to face him.
