Flare and Thread were over with Bookmark at her house, and were watching another episode of BFDI, trying to keep their giggles to a minimum. They had just gotten to the elimination of BFDI 12, which was Coiny's first elimination.
"Well," Thread remarked, "There go all of my parents."
"Ha ha!" Flare teased, "Both of my parents outlasted all of yours!"
"Eh, whatever, I know they do better in the next season." Thread reflected on her parents' season 1 personalities, "It's not like they were gonna make it that far anyway. All Pin did was boss everyone around, which I've heard her admit that she's not proud of, my Dad just slapped Firey all day long, and my other Mom slapped, well, everyone!"
"Besides," Bookmark noted. "Flare, your parents seem really cool!"
Flare sighed, "Well, they certainly are not that cool now. I would really like to meet Bubble though if I ever got the chance, she seems like a really nice girl, wonder where she's at now!"
The girls continued to watch the episode, laughing at all the funny parts, and still finding it strange that this show took up so much of their lives when they were younger. As they got closer to the end of the episode, Thread and Flare seemed to notice that Bookmark was looking a little down about something.
Thread gave her a pat on the back. "Hey, don't be jealous that your parents were not in this season, I'm sure it's a good thing they only joined the show later."
Bookmark sighed, "No, it's not about that. It's about...something else."
Flare paused the episode out of concern for her friend. "Go on..."
Bookmark sighed. "It's just...I'm worried about my Mimi."
Thread tilted her head in confusion. "She seemed fine to me when we first got here."
"Well, it's not about that." Bookmark litened outside and made sure her parents weren't nearby. "Some people came in and visited the fifth grade classes and did this lesson about drugs...you guys know what those are, right?"
Flare nodded. "Yeah, it's like medicine that people sometimes take when they don't actually need it. It can be really dangerous if people take too much or use it the wrong way."
Thread leaned in, curious. "Why are you worried about your Mimi, though? Are they...are they taking something they shouldn't be?"
Bookmark hesitated, glancing around once more before lowering her voice. "I don't know, I've noticed them taking things that looked like the drugs we saw at school."
Thread tried to comfort Bookmark. "And what makes you think they're not supposed to be taking them? My mom takes medicine, she says a doctor said she could so she can calm down when she gets stressed out?"
Bookmark shook her head, looking visibly worried. "Because it wasn't just like a pill, it was like...an injection, like a shot. They take the medicine from the bottle and inject it into themself."
Flare looked over at Bookmark in concern. "Is that what the drugs they taught you about in school looked like?"
Bookmark nodded, trying to keep her voice down. "It looked very similar, and that's why I'm worried."
Thread understood Bookmark's worries, but didn't want to jump to conclusions. "Have you tried talking to them about it?"
Bookmark lightly shook her head. "I've only asked them about it once. And guess what they said to me? They said the shots make them 'feel good'. And guess what we learned in school? People 'feel good' when they are on drugs."
Alarms were now starting to go off in Flare and Thread's heads. Flare scooted closer to Bookmark. "...Do you really think they're on some type of drug?"
