Pin, Coiny, and Needle were hanging out in the basement with Thread and Dimey, peacefully coloring on a Saturday afternoon. All was going well, when Needle heard her phone start to ring.
Pin briefly looked up from her coloring sheet. "Who is it?"
Needle checked her phone. "It's Pen, wonder why he's calling?"
Needle briefly stepped away from the coloring table, and answered the phone. "Hello?"
"Hey Needle, what's up?" Pen enthusiastically remarked.
"Just hanging out with the kids, what's up with you?" Needle asked.
"It's been a pretty uneventful day over here since I do say so myself." Pen smiled at Eraser and Capy, who were playing a card game in the living room. "Anyways, I wanted to tell you about something."
Needle was intrigued. "Really? What is it?"
"There's an event going on at the tennis club this Saturday; it's a couples tennis tournament!"
Needle perked up. "Really? That sounds like fun!"
Pen nodded. "It is, Eraser and I did it last year, and we had a great time!"
"So, what are you implying?" Needle asked curiously.
Pen smiled. "I was wondering if you wanted to enter to with Coiny or Pin."
Needle nervously chuckled into the phone. "Tennis really isn't my thing, I don't know about this."
"Come on, Needle!" Pen encouraged. "Eraser and I aren't that great either, but we still had a blast!"
Needle glanced over at Coiny and Pin, who were still actively engaged coloring with the kids. "Well...I suppose I could try to see if one of them is interested, but no promises!"
Pen was satisfied with the response. "Awesome, let me know what you decide to do!"
Needle smiled. "I will, thanks for letting me know about this!"
Pen smiled back. "No problem, see you soon!"
"See ya!" Needle hung up the phone, and made her way back over to be everyone else.
Coiny looked up at Needle and smiled. "Hey, what's up?"
Needle started slowly pacing around. "So...anyone interested in playing some tennis this weekend? Pen invited me to a couples tournament and I was wondering if one of you were interested."
Pin tilted her head. "Tennis? I'm not sure Needle. I don't think I can even remember the last time I played!"
Needle looked at them with her big puppy eyes. "Please...for me!"
"Ugh, fine!" Coiny reluctantly volunteered, although he certainly didn't mind the thought. "As long as we get some practice in beforehand though."
"Deal!" Needle said. "We can buy some balls and racquets, and maybe we can even get one of the kids to be our ball person!"
"What's a ball person?" Dimey asked, briefly taking a break from his coloring.
"It's someone who chases after the balls when one of us hits it too hard." Needle leaned in closer to him. "But that person has to be really fast."
Dimey's eyes lit up. "Hey! I'm super fast! I can do it, I can chase after the balls!"
Pin chuckled at Dimey's enthusiasm. "Looks like you two just found your little tennis buddy!"
Needle and Coiny smiled, excited to try somthing a little bit different for once.
Meanwhile, Donut and Barf Bag, who were upstairs doing a puzzle with their kids, had overhead the throuple's conversation.
