Needle had taken Dimey to soccer practice, his last one before the season was over. Thread had decided to come to since she wanted to watch the scrimmage they were doing.
"Go Dimey!" Thread cheered, seeing Dimey get the ball. Dimey continued to dribble down the field, where he passed it to Capy. Capy had a nice open look, and was able to get the ball in the goal.
"Nice work guys!" Needle shouted from the edge of the field. She also saw Pen run up to the two of them, giving them each a high five for their great teamwork.
After the scrimmage was over, Pen went and talked to all of the kids and the parents about how great of a job they had done this season. Pen also mentioned to the adults about possibly getting their kids ready for a travel team now that they were getting older.
Dimey was excited when he heard this. "A real soccer team? Please mom, can I do it?"
Needle walked Dimey back to where Thread had waited for them. "We still have until spring to figure it out...but I'm guessing the answer might be yes."
"LETS GO!" Dimey cheered. Once they made their way back to Thread, Needle gathered all of their things and the three of them were about to head off, until they heard Thread for a short distance.
"Mom! I'm stuck!"
It had rained the night before, so the grass was quite wet, and it caused Thread's chair to sink into the mud. She tried and tried to push herself out, but it was to no avail.
Needle quickly made her way back over to her, and lifted the wheelchair out of the mud. "Sorry about that Thread. This chair really isn't that good for wet grass, huh?" Needle noted.
Thread shook her head. "It keeps getting stuck and it's so annoying!"
Needle pushed Thread through the grass until they got to the street, where Thread was able to push herself.
Dimey didn't like seeing his sister frustrated, and tried to come up with a solution. "Maybe they should make cleat wheels!"
Thread lowered her eyebrows. "Cleat wheels?"
Dimey nodded. "Yeah! My cleats help me from getting stuck in the mud while playing soccer. Maybe if they made wheels that were like cleats with all the studs on it, maybe you wouldn't get stuck in the grass!"
Thread thought about it for a second, then realized there was one major problem. "But wouldn't that hurt my hands when I try to push them?"
"Oh." Dimey frowned in defeat. "I didn't think of that."
Needle chuckled, shaking her head. "I like the effort there, Dimey, but maybe we can figure out a real solution together. There's got to be something out there."
Thread sighed, glancing back at the muddy patch where her wheels had sunk. "I just don't want to deal with this every time it rains."
Needle nodded in understanding. "I hear you, sweetheart. Maybe we can look at some other types of wheels. There are people who design wheelchairs for all kinds of terrain."
Dimey perked up again. "Ooooh! What if we find one that has, like, super grippy tires? Like a monster truck chair!"
Thread let out a small laugh. "I don't know if I need a monster truck, Dimey."
