Im leaving the seelie realm today. I've went through the progress properly so the queen knows. She gave me a necklace encase she needs to call me back but now im free. I have some mundie money that ive saved over the past 20 years. I have said goodbye to my sister and queen and im coming out of the lake entrance in New York. I don't know where I'll go. It might be difficult finding a place because I am a seelie. At that point I saw some vampires speed past. I noticed the sun was coming up, curious I went in the same direction. After the sun was fully up I heard hissing. I looked down the alley ahead and saw a vamp standing in the shade, although there was little of it.

"It's not wise for you to remain here," He looked at me annoyed "The sun is still moving, the shade will reduce to nothing."

"Well what do you suggest?" He asked sarcastically.

"Wait."

"How is that gonna help? You just told me to move!" His angry voice didn't matter as you walked away. I found a mundane shop 5 minutes away. The man behind the counter stared at me in awe. Perks and downfall of being a fae. I got what I wanted and went up to pay.

"Nice tattoo," he commented on the blue leaf marking I had on the side of my left eye. "Suits you."

"I accept the compliment." I couldn't lie and tell him thanks but he just grinned as if I had.

"Here you go! Come back at 10, my shift ends then." He handed me my change and I grimaced lightly.

"You might see me." I mean I might be walking past around the same time but I doubt it. I gave a coy smile. Facial expressions are perfect for changing the tone of a statement.

I walked back to the vamp. He was pressed right up against the wall and was panting. "Came back to mock me eh?"

"You're dead either way but I suggest you follow." I flicked the large umbrella up. He moved under it slowly.

"How do I know you wont yank it away?"

"You don't." He put his hand on the umbrella. He started leading me to a hotel. Hotel Dumort.

"Do they function like a mundane hotel but for vamps." I might get a room after all.

"Kinda..." He looked confused as to why I was asking.

"What about fae?"

"What no way! You cant be serious." I started pulling away the umbrella, I don't care. I don't know him and I need a bed. "Fine! I'll see what I can do." If he could cry he would. Defensibly a fledgling.

As we walked in the vampires took up a defensive stance. A Latino vampire walked through the room. "What message does the queen have?"

"Do you expect one?" I might need a room but I cant stay here if the queen hates him. Too much risk not enough reward.

"What? No. Did she send you?" He looked angry and concerned.

"The queen commands us whether we are told or not." Im just used to being criptive.

"Uh. The queen wouldn't waste time like this. What do you want?" he looked annoyed and fed up. Rude.

"They want a room." The vamp I had said spoke up.

"And you know this how?" He looked down guiltily.

"Eh I kinda missed sunrise and she helped me back." He just rolled his eyes before looking at me.

"You best not anger the queen. Her reach is long and she cares a great deal for me. I would advise you let me rent a room." She cares a lot about all of us. Especially if she thinks you could help in some way. Staying with vamps would give me more freedom.

"Fine but you are next to me. Who knows what you could do." And with that I had a room and a curious vampire room-mate.
