Being a maid for a royal family wasn't as bad as you would think until you were sent to a new place, a new castle and didn't know your way around the castle, I was completely lost.

I continue to wonder for a bit longer before seeing a man running down the hall towards me, he seems to be smiling occasionally letting a laugh slip his lips and a mischievous glint in his eyes. His long brown hair quite messy, he turns around now looking where he is going noticing me in the hall, he stops a few feet from me.

"Hello," he greets, his eyes scanning my face. His voice suited him, it was soft and sweet.

He doesn't take his eyes off of me but I was not at any point uncomfortable. "You are quite beautiful," he mumbles, he clearly didn't mean for me to hear it, but I did causing a blush for rise to my cheeks. "You seem quite lost."

"I am terribly lost. I'm a new maid, I was supposed to meet with the king and queen-"

"You must be y/n! My parents informed me that I would have a new maid."

"O-oh.. I am so sorry your highness." I told him with a slight bow of my head. I have never seen what he looks like, he's quite handsome himself.

"I'm Vinchenzo but people call me Vinny, it's nice to meet you y/n." He told me before we were cut off from continuing.

"Vinny! Where did you run off to?" A voice calls through the red carpeted halls. His head turns back to me with the same mischievous smile he had before. "Y/n, do you trust me?"

"Do I have a choice in the matter?"

"Not particularly, you see, I am running from my royal advisor and guards. I don't like being on a leash."

"Me accompanying you would only cause trouble for me, sir. I will lose my job." As much as I wanted to take his offer, I needed this job.

"Not if they don't catch us," he says, offering me his hand. "Has your mother ever taught you to trust strangers, your majesty?" I asked with a laugh before slipping my hand into his and running down the halls with him.

"Yes, has yours?"

"Of course."

Vinny just smiles kindly, I realise now why everyone is so fond of the Prince. Not a bad word is said about him in this kingdom though we do not hear much of him. His grip on my hand is tight yet gentle, like he's scared of hurting me as he pulls me along with him.

I never had him down for the trouble-maker type but it now made sense. He is literally dragging me along in his escape from his guards and advisor.

Eventually, we make it up to the solar, it give an incredible view of the entire kingdom. Vinny drops my hand, a smile on his face. He looks like he's blushing but I'm sure it's just from the running, we ran quite a way to get up here.

"You know-" he breathes, "most people wouldn't talk to me even if I asked them a question, let alone take my hand and run away with me." He tells me with a slight laugh.

"I suppose I'm not 'most people', sir" I tell him softly while straightening out my dress.

"No, I suppose not." He agrees. "Also- please call me Vinny, anything else sounds too formal. I'm not that kind of person." He informs and we watch the village people from afar. "I can do that if that is what you want most, Vinny." He turns to me with a cheesy grin.

The energy he has is contagious, he's much different from any other person of royalty, he's carefree and not in anyway posh like most people I've met. It's extremely refreshing.

We continue to hold eye contact with each other, his green eyes- though in some light can be seen as blue- were captivating. It was almost like he has me under a spell which was broken by multiple voices.

Our head shot around to see who I assume are his guards and advisor. "So much for peace- guards, Ricky." He greet firmly, we were stood close and he seemed to sense my anxiety of all eyes on us.

His hand creeps across the stoned wall and his finger interlocks with mine, thankfully the dress hid it well so no one could see the small act of comfort.

"You should not have run off like that Vinchenzo!" One of the taller guards say, I had to hold in a laugh while he was being scolded yet he seemed to find it quite hilarious.

"I am very sorry but Christopher, haven't I told you I do not like being bossed around." He rolls his eyes as we walk inside, his hand still locked with mine. He must have forgotten.

"You are a prince with duties to for fill, your parents will be unimpressed with your behaviour."

"Oh come on Justin! It was just a little bit of fun, I dragged y/n along with me, they're innocent!" He looked to me with a small smirk, I couldn't help but let a laugh slip catching the eyes of his guards and his advisor.

"I am so sorry, I know where I am now your highness. Thank you for showing me the way, it was nice talking with you" I spoke with a wide smile and a giggle in my voice.

Neither of us could help but laugh, his personal workers did not seem so impressed with the two of us. "I must get going, Vinny. I'll see you around." I jogged around the corner letting my laughs fall from my mouth, I could hear his echo prominently through the halls that I still do not know very well.

A little bit of fun was worth losing my job, who else can say they spent time with a Prince.

Only this Prince made butterflies fly around in my stomach..
