Y/n's POV

My target is at this dance, it was a blind mission, I didn't know who my target was. It was almost impossible to figure out who it is, there's too many people here, to add to the difficulty, it's a masked ball. I could hear my co-workers speaking through the piece in my ear feeding me information.

"Your target has entered the building keep an eye out." I sighed softly and continue to drink the champagne from the fancy glass, I hide under the mask I wear on my face just like the other rich people walking these floors.

I watch the door watching a group of people walk in together. "There's too many people I couldn't see them walk in." I speak quietly making sure no one noticed I was talking to myself or I'd get caught out if they had a single thought I may be here on business and not to dance. I had to play this right or the plan falls to pieces right under my feet.

I wish I was out with Spencer at this moment instead of being a hitman for a mafia I want nothing to do with. They're barbaric and ruthless. Spencer works for a rival mafia, our love for each other is secret, if anyone found out we'd both be killed. Dead on the spot without a second thought.

"Target heading up the back stairs." I set my drink down and walked the elegant hallways, I made it to the stairs the rail running through my hand as I made my way up.

I made it to the top coming out into a longer hallway I looked to my right seeing no one but to my left a man in a black suit. I pointed my gun at him, he heard the click of the safety and spun around in an instant.

He pulls a gun from his back holding it right back at me, this wasn't the first time I've had a gun pointed at me. I had pent up anger that had been building for a long time, a fight with my target would be my way of releasing it without being thought as weird.

"Put the gun down sweetie, this doesn't have to get ugly now does it?" His voice passed through his lips, his eye baring down at me through his mask. "Don't make me ask you again.." a small smirk appeared on his face.

The more he spoke made me realise how I had heard that voice before. "S-Spencer...?"

"Y/n?" Simultaneously we ripped the masks from our face letting them fall to the floor. I run towards him and hug him tightly, "what are you doing here?" I asked worriedly. "I had a mission to complete. What are you doing here?"

"Same as you." I take the ear piece from my ear dropping it to the floor and crushing it under the heel of my boot. "I never thought I'd see you again." He whispered kissing my head multiple times.

He pulled away quickly looking down at me, "there's no way.." I furrow my brows confused. He pull his ear piece out, ripping the wires from it so it no longer works.

"You're my target.."

"You're my target.." we both spoke in shock.

"I can't kill you!" I confess a hint of sadness lacing my voice. "We have to get out of here." He takes my hand in his and runs down the empty hall way looking for a way out, we come out onto the roof.

"What do we do?!" I yelled as we looked down at the drop from the building, "I have a car waiting for me, we just need to get down there before your mafia come after us. They would be looking for you since you broke your ear piece."

"I can't go with you! They'll kill me-" he cuts off my worrying with a small kiss. "Baby, didn't I tell you? I run the mafia.." He whispers with a small smile.

I couldn't muster up a response, he was already figuring out a way to get us down safely. "I'll go down and you just have to trust me on this one." I nodded slowly and let go of his hand, he jumped to a balcony below us and once again until he was on the floor.

"Jump! I'll catch you I promise!" He yells up to me using his hands to project his voice up to me.

"What?! Are you insane!" I could hear yelling from behind me, I knew exactly who it was and I didn't have much time.

"Trust me! Please.." I hang my legs over the edge looking down at him, "fuck I'm gonna die. I'm gonna die. I'm gonna die." I repeated as I let go of the edge falling from a height. I clamped my eyes closed waiting for impact yet it never came.

"You can open your eyes now, amour.." my eyes shoot open at the comforting voice. He set me back on my feet, adrenaline rushing through the both of us.

"I SEE THEM!" Gun shots hit the floor around us making us run hoping to dodge the bullets being thrown at us. He ripped open the car door shoving me inside before climbing inside himself.

"Drive! Drive!" He yelled, his driver speeding off leaving the mansion in the distance. "Who's this?" His driver asked, alarmed.

"My target." He spoke looking through the back window to see if we're being followed. The driver pulled out a gun pointing it at me, "woah! They're safe! They're safe!" Spencer protested.

"Boss-"

"Follow orders Ricky." The driver I now know as Ricky stayed silent and continues to drive until we arrive at Spencer's house. We rush inside, "Ricky get everyone in the meeting room, you have five minutes." I follow him up the main stairs of the house and into what I assume is the meeting room.

He sits at the head of the table pulling out a seat for me beside him. Soon the room began to fill as did the empty chairs surrounding the table.

"Now we're all here. This is y/n. They will be staying with us from now on and I want you to protect them with your life as you would me."

"Why should we? Where do they come from?" One of the men asks, looking impatient.

"The five-seventy mafia-" Spencer is cut off with the five men pointing various weapons at me. "Boys, if I were you I'd put them down because I'll gut you where you stand before you can pull your trigger." I spit harshly standing from the table.

"Take their advice and stand down." Spencer speaks calmly. "They're from our top enemy mafia! Why should we?!"

"Joe, they don't want to work for them and I love them. With everything I have in me. I ask you to respect that please."

The weapons go down, "introduce yourself sweetie.." Spencer encouraged.

"I'm y/n, Spencer is right. I never wanted to work for them, I disagree with how they work. I don't expect you to respect me, to earn your respect I have to respect you. I just ask that you give me a chance." Their facial expression softened and they silently nodded.

"How did you get dragged into this?"

"I witnessed a murder of theirs, Craig, their leader thought I was too pretty to get rid of so they kept me around." I explained, there was more too it but I didn't feel like telling them, it was something I told no one.

"You're dismissed.." the men left the room without another word, Spencer turned to me standing to his full height and kissing me lovingly.

"You didn't have to tell them anything at all." I shook my head, leaning it into his chest. "I did, it was the least I could do."

"God I love you so much.." he spoke under his breathe.

"What if they come after you looking for me, I can't ask your men to be put in danger like that, just for me."

"Five-seventy wouldn't dare step foot on our property, I swear to protect you. It's all worth is for the love I have for you." We stood silently just appreciating each other's company.

This is all I've ever wanted; to be loved.
