"Tell. Me. What?" Teru repeated and looked at Kieran.

He was just as confused and alarmed, since whatever Lucas had to say was about Teru.

Lucas breathed heavily when he had woken up from the nightmare, but calmed down. He weakly stood up from Blaise's embrace and ignored the never-ending pus seeping out of his opened throat. Not wanting Lucas to push himself further, Teru walked over and grasped his shoulders. "What happened to you guys down there?"

"I...I saw...," Lucas hesitated. He stared at Teru's stomach for a few seconds and sighed. "I saw the conditions of the caves. Everything is destroyed. The Valley Pack can never return."

Teru saw Blaise give 'a look' to Kieran. Lucas shifted from one foot to the other, a sign that he was uncomfortable.

Something is off. Not only would Lucas know I'd be glad to never return under the ground, but he's lying. I've known him all my life to see the signs.

"I assumed about the caves after the earthquake," Teru said. "Did you...see anyone else inside?"

Like Mom or Hina?

Lucas fidgeted some more and brushed a hand through his hair. "No."

Lies.

"I see." Teru was disappointed, but he didn't have the energy to demand the truth. He leaned forward and whispered into Lucas's ear. "Promise to tell me later."

Lucas froze and nodded slowly.

Teru yawned. Kieran guided him to the couch. "You should rest. I don't know what tomorrow will bring or where we will be sleeping."

"Hopefully not on the nasty ass dirt," Blaise grumbled.

Kieran ignored the remark and asked Teru, "Did you want a snack first?"

"Yes, please."

He handed him several small baggies of an unfamiliar food. They were hard and small.

"These are called pretzels."

"Thank you." Teru sat on the sofa.

"It's hard to believe what a polite little thing you've become compared to when you first arrived in New York," Blaise playfully said, rolling onto his stomach with his crossed feet in the air. "Teru was so feisty and rude—OUCH!"

Something went zooming past the humans, bulls eyeing between Blaise's eyes. It was a pretzel. Because of the speed Kieran flicked it, it was more like a bullet. Blood flowed over his nose.

"You bastard," he growled and stumbled up, black eyes gleaming.

Kieran eyed him dangerously. "Keep my mate's name out of your mouth."

"It never bothered you before!"

"It always bothered me, especially from you."

"Don't be an overprotective asshole alpha."

"Don't be a cruel piece of shit who keeps their virtue's dead body alive."

Blaise gasped and clutched his chest. "How dare ya'll, knowing my predicament?"

As the brothers bickered, Lucas sat beside him and grabbed one of the pretzel baggies. They munched and watched the argument that would soon become physical. It was amusing because it reminded Teru of when he and Hina fought. Kieran said the sins didn't care about each other, even hated, but that wasn't true.

They merely had sibling rivalry that was more dramatic and overboard than most families. In a way, it was like any other brother or sister quarrel over stupid things.
