I'd woken up to find Daryl still laying awake, staring up at the ceiling. I looked down sadly, as a few tears blurred my vision. I reached over and placed my hand on his chest, causing him to flinch slightly and look over at me. He gave me a sad look.

"You get any sleep?" I asked.

"No, not really." He mumbled a reply. I sat up slightly and motioned for Daryl to come closer. He wrapped and arm round my waist, and rested his head on my chest. I played with his hair as we lay there in silence. I felt his light breaths on my bare skin, as his fingers danced lightly on my hip. "I miss him Pipe, already, I miss him." He mumbled.

"I know, it's hard, losing a brother, but you'll get through it, the grief, it's not gonna be there forever I told him. He didn't say anything else, only hummed in reply. Today, we were supposed to be getting prepared for the governors next attack but honestly, I don't think either of us wanted to leave the bed.

"We have to get up." Daryl said, looking up at me.

"Yeah, I suppose we do." I sighed, as Daryl sat up. I leant over to him, placing my hand on the back of his neck. "Trust me, it'll get easier." I smiled slightly, before placing a kiss on his lips. As I pulled back, he placed his hand on the back of my neck, pulling me back in for another kiss. It was one full of emotion. I pulled back again and smiled. "Let's get dressed then pack up." I told him. He nodded. I stood up from the bed and began to take off my oversized shirt. I then changed into some slightly fresher underwear before pulling on some ripped jeans, a tank top and my faded brown cowboy boots. Daryl was now in some cleaner pants, but still had no shirt on, I smiled at him as he wrapped an arm round my waist.

"Thank you." He whispered. I gently kissed his lips before pulling away.

"I'm gonna go see Carl, see how he's doing, will you start packing?" I asked. Daryl nodded. I smiled before exiting the cell. I went over to Carl's cell to find him sitting on his bunk. "Hey bud?" I smiled, causing him to look up at me. He sent a small sad smile causing me to frown. I walked over to him and sat down next to him. "What's up?" I asked.

"I miss my mom." He replied with a small voice.

"I know you do, I miss her too Bud." I told him.

"I don't wanna lose anyone else, I don't know what I'd do if I lost my dad, or Judith, or you." He sighed, looking up at me.

"Me?" I asked, confused.

"You're the closet thing I've got to a big sister, we've gotten so close since we met." He explained. I wrapped my arm around him and pulled him close.

"You got nothin' to worry about Carl, you're not gonna lose, me or Judith, or your dad, I promise I'll always be with you Carl and I'm not leavin'." I said, hugging him. He wrapped his arms around my waist and sighed. I pulled back and looked down at him. "I'm gonna go back and help Daryl pack away our stuff." Carl pulled away and nodded. I smiled and ruffled his hair before exiting the cell.
