Namjoon watched you from his spot in the grass, his chest aching as he admired you. Spending time together was bittersweet; he felt warm and whole when he was around you, and yet, it felt like he was being torn apart at the same time.
He took in a labored breath as he watched you pick dandelions, blowing the seeds off, the fuzzy pappus floating in the air.

It's been two week since it started and it's only getting worse. He can feel his airways closing little by little every day as the disease progressed. There was only two ways to stop it.

"Namjoon!" You called out, running to him, two fuzzy dandelions in your hand.
You dropped down into the grass next to him, handing one of the weeds to him.
"Make a wish."
He smiled, taking the plant from you.
"Ready? One... two... three." You counted, the both of you blowing the seed tufts into the air, the wind carrying them across the field.
"What did you wish for?" You asked, knowing he wouldn't answer.
"I can't tell you, you know that." He grinned, his charming dimples making an appearance.
He wished you would feel the same way he felt about you.
He wished he could kiss you.
He wished this disease would disappear.
He wished he could breathe again.
You didn't know that, though.
You were blissfully unaware of everything Namjoon was going through—and he wanted to keep it that way.

"It's a beautiful day." You commented, your eyes glazed over in awe as you admired the view. The way the breeze blew past the grass, the tips dancing as they swayed back and forth and the way the sun felt shining down on both you and Namjoon; it felt warm, comforting. The atmosphere was tranquil.
Namjoon hummed in agreement as you placed your head on his shoulder. You closed your eyes, the soft breeze caressing your face gently, soothing you.
"Let's do this again." You murmured.
"We will."
"Promise?"
"Promise."

Namjoon didn't know if he could keep that promise.

*two months later*

Namjoon knew his days were numbered. This disease had been plaguing him for two months now. His chest was becoming tighter, his airways more constricted.
Namjoon had invited you over to spend time with you, knowing it could very well be the last time he sees you. He didn't want it to be a somber occasion, though. He wanted it to be like a normal day of hanging out, which meant he had to keep up his jaunty attitude.
You were rather excited that Namjoon had invited you over. Of course, you didn't know why. You simply assumed he wanted to hang out.

You knocked on the front door to his apartment, your keys jingling in your hand as you did so. The door opened almost immediately. Namjoon stood in the doorway, a warm and welcoming smile on his face, as always. You didn't even know anything was wrong.
"I'm so glad you asked me to come over." You smiled, stepping inside. "I missed you."
"I missed you too."
"So, what are we doing today?"
"I was thinking we could have a game night. Does that sound good?"
"Of course. I don't care what we do as long as we spend time together." You said.
Namjoon smiled at that and gestured towards the living room. You watched as he got out a variety of board and card games.
"Which one do you wanna start with?"
"How about Uno? You can't go wrong with that."
"Do you wanna keep this friendship in tact?" He asked, jokingly, referring to the fact that Uno supposedly breaks friendships.
"I do." You answered. "But I also wanna play Uno."
"Alright."

A few minutes later, the two of you were sitting across from each other with cards in your hands.
Namjoon placed a blue card with the number three on it onto the stack. You narrowed your eyes, glancing at the cards in your hand. You didn't have any blue cards, but you did have one that was green with a three on it. You plucked it from your collection, placing it on the stack and changing the color to green.
After a few turns, you laid down a draw four card, you thought you had the upper hand until Namjoon laid down the dreaded reverse card.
You groaned, throwing your head back before hesitantly drawing four cards and adding them to your deck.
