A sudden lethargic feeling took over your body as you were putting away your groceries.
"Ah. Is it time already?" You asked aloud.

In the world you live in, there are soulmates, and these soulmates are quite literally like each other's battery. You have to spend time around your soulmate to recharge and get your energy back, which should be fairly easy except you and your soulmate don't speak the same language.
He spoke Korean and was pretty good at English, but not enough to carry on a long conversation. It was the same with you. You knew enough Korean to have a small chat and get you through everyday life, but nothing more. Despite that, the both of you tried to find ways around it, using online translators and studying phrases and other things that you thought might come up in conversation. You'd both been spending time together over the last few months trying to learn more about each other and while it was a bit difficult with the language barrier, you enjoyed being around him.
You picked up your phone, tapping on your previous conversation with your soulmate Jin before typing out a short message.

You
I'm tired

You received a response immediately.

Jin
Me too ㅠㅠ
Come over

You didn't have to be told twice.
As soon as you saw the message, your keys were in your hand and you were headed out the door. You had been to Jin's place a few times before so you knew how to get there. He lived in a nice apartment in the heart of Seoul, amongst all the popular restaurants and shops.
You parked at his towering apartment complex and made your way inside, taking a ride on the elevator to his floor.

Once at his doorstep, you pressed the button on his doorbell camera, his voice coming through seconds later.
"Y/n!" He greeted cheerfully, the joy in his voice making your heart flip.
You gave a friendly wave to the camera.
A few seconds passed before the door was pulled open, your handsome soulmate standing just inside, his lengthy hair looking fluffier than usual. His face lit up when he saw you, his eyes shining as he pulled you in for a hug.
"I missed you."
"I missed you too."
Jin pulled away and stepped aside, allowing you to walk through the door. Just being in his presence made you feel better already, you could sense your energy level rising a bit. He grabbed your hand and led you into the living room where two Nintendo Switch controllers sat. You turned to him with slightly raised brows.
"Video games?"
He nodded.
One thing you learned about Jin was that he loved to play video games, his favorite being Maple Story, of course he enjoyed exploring other games and seeing what he liked.
"What game?" You inquired, taking a seat on the couch.
He pulled out the case showing it to you.
"Overcooked?"
He nodded. "It looked fun."
"Okay." You nodded. "Let's give it a try."

Jin started the game up and you both selected your characters, reading over the instructions before starting the practice round. It was fairly simple to understand and you breezed through the tutorial with ease.
The first round started pretty smooth and only consisted of making different soups. The concept was easy to grasp; work together to make an order before the customer leaves and complete as many orders as possible until the clock runs out—it's was like those cooking apps for iPhones. Little did you know, the game was much more intense than you had originally thought.

Round two began and you were instructed to make a burger. Two orders displayed at the top of the screen, a burger with nothing on it and one with lettuce and tomato.
You moved over to the ingredient area and took out some meat, placing it on the cutting board to make a patty. Jin seemed to be okay dealing with the cooking, so you tossed the ground beef to him so he could begin cooking it. You immediately went back to the ingredients and got another chunk of meat, pre-making the patty for the second burger. After that, you pulled out lettuce and tomato and chopped those up so they would be ready for Jin.
Things were going really well until the kitchen began to shake and the floor on the right side started rising, causing your cooking partner to yell out, moving his character onto the platform as it rose so he could be on the side where all the pans and burners were. Before the right side of the floor could get too high you started chucking chopped ingredients over to Jin so he could assemble the burgers, going to chop more meat and veggies as more orders came in. A few seconds later, the floor lowered and you were both able to move about like normal.
It was quite the struggle, but in the end you got three stars, which you were both pleased with, giving each other a celebratory high five.
"This is fun." You told him.
