It was prom season and the entire school was buzzing with excitement. Juniors were looking forward to their first time at prom and seniors were planning to make their last prom the best. You had yet to be asked to the rather important, which was fine. It was still a month away, you had time.
Deep down, you were hoping (and waiting) for one person in particular to ask you.
Park Jimin.
When you were younger, you always looked forward to prom, just waiting for the day you were old enough to go. Now, your first prom was approaching and you couldn't be more excited. You'd already made peace with the fact that you'd more than likely be going alone and that was fine. You could have fun with your very small group of friends, you didn't have to have a date... but it would be nice.

You placed your tray of food on the cafeteria table and took a seat beside Jimin like normal.
"I'm wishing I brought my lunch today." He commented, pushing his food around. "This doesn't look appetizing at all."
"I'm with you." You agreed.
Lunchroom food was always mediocre at your school. Some days it was good and some days it was something you couldn't even eat. Today was one of those days. Thankfully, there was sides, which is what you usually ate when the main food item was something you disliked.
"So," You spoke up. "prom is coming up."
"What is it, a month away?"
"It is. I saw a promposal this morning. One of my guy classmates serenaded his girlfriend. It was silly and had everyone laughing, but it was cute."
"That seems eccentric." He commented.
"Some promposals are." You shrugged.
Jimin's eyes shifted to you for a moment before he asked. "Are big, dramatic promposals like that something you're into?"
"No. I'd probably be embarrassed if someone asked me to prom in front of everyone. I think I'd prefer it be in private."
Jimin nodded in agreement. "Me too. There's really no reason to make a show of it."
"Right? I mean, there's nothing wrong with it, it's just not for me."
You took a bite of your food, glancing over at Jimin out the corner of your eye, wondering if he picked up on your hint.
Jimin did indeed pick up. He was taking in every word you were saying. In fact, he was glad you brought up prom because it gave him the opportunity to ask you about promposals.
Okay, so she doesn't want something grand and public. Good. That's a relief. Jimin thought to himself, sighing internally.

He didn't show it, but he was actually rather excited about prom. He imagined the two of you going together, both dressed in your nicest formalwear. The garments in matching colors, or ones that complemented each other at least. He imagined the both of you holding each other close as you slow danced to a random love song. It made his heart soar.

The both of you are crushing heavily on each other, though neither of you know it. It's a classic case of two oblivious individuals who are head over heels for each other. Neither one brave enough to confess. Not yet, anyway.

Once lunch was over, the both of you tossed your plates in the trash and returned to class. Thankfully, you shared most of your classes together, so you were almost always sitting beside each other. Thought the day, Jimin found it difficult to focus. He would catch himself stealing glances at you, planning on how he would ask you to prom. He knew how badly you wanted a date for prom. You didn't talk too much about it, but you had mentioned in the past about how you'd like to be able to go with someone. Jimin wanted to be that someone.

Weeks passed and you still hadn't been asked to prom. It was now just a couple weeks until the big even and you hadn't even purchased a dress yet, choosing to wait until you were asked. Though, things were starting to look bleak and you were almost certain you'd be going alone. You'd dropped many hints to Jimin, but unfortunately, he wasn't picking up on them—or so you thought.

"Hey. My parents are going to be out for the night. You wanna come over?" Jimin asked, placing his books into his locker.
"Sure."
"Great. I'll order us a pizza and we can hang out for a bit."
"Sounds like fun."
You were down in the dumps and could really use a pick me up. Maybe pizza with Jimin would lift your spirits. You couldn't say no to him, anyway.
