You were dying to get out of your apartment. Your roommate was getting on your last nerve with her obnoxiously loud music and inconsiderate behavior. You thought having a roommate would be nice, not only so you could have company, but also so rent could be split between the two of you. Looking back, you were stupid to think that. It's been eight months and you're absolutely miserable. She never cleans up after herself, walks around talking on her phone all the time, and listens to music so loud you don't know how the neighbors haven't filed a noise complaint.

You had been stuck inside almost all day, looking for an excuse to get out. Thankfully, one made itself available.
It was late in the evening and it looked so beautiful outside, the stunning skyline capturing your attention. You thought it would be nice to take a little walk and enjoy the sky. You quickly got ready to leave, grabbing your phone and earbuds, placing them in your ears before heading out.

Upon stepping outside, you were greeted by the refreshingly cool evening air caressing your skin. It was much needed after being in that stuffy apartment all day.
While gazing at the vast sky, your thoughts began to wander and you couldn't help but start thinking that maybe you should find a new place to live. Your current living situation wasn't exactly ideal.

Being too lost in your thoughts, you didn't realize how far you had walked. The only thing that brought you back to reality was the sound of a loud growl.
You pulled a headphone out, looking around in a panic, your gaze landing on a shadow standing not far behind you. It was difficult to see since the sun was going down, the only thing that stood out was the shape of two tall, pointy ears, and glowing yellow eyes.
A feral.
Not knowing what else to do, you ran. Since the feral hybrid was behind you, you couldn't turn around and run home. Your only option was to go forward, so that's what you did.
You had never encountered a feral before so all you knew to do was run for your life.
At this point, you had abandoned your headphones, shoving them into your pocket with your phone. You needed to stay vigilant.
As you hurried down the street, you caught sight of the woods and booked it in that direction x assuming maybe you would be able to lose the hybrid by running through the dense trees. He would still be able to smell you, but at least he would have a lower chance of seeing you.
You skittered through the undergrowth and past the trees, your heart pounding against your ribcage. You could possibly die tonight.

After running for a couple minutes, you came to a stop, resting against a tree to catch your breath, your chest rising and falling at a rapid rate.
The sound of leaves made your heart jump into your throat.
"Come on, sweetheart. You think I can't smell you?" The feral's voice called out.
You didn't hang around to hear him say anything else and began sprinting through the woods, tree limbs catching on your shirt and scratching your arms as you zoomed by. It hurt, but you couldn't stop running.
Part of you was thankful that the sun was almost all the way down because the darkness helped keep you hidden, but at the same time you couldn't see a thing.
Your foot caught on a tree root sticking out of the dirt, causing a yelp to escape you as you went falling to the forest floor. You tried to scramble back to your feet as the feral hybrid moved in closer, but you couldn't seem to pull your leg free from the tree root.

You heard flapping sounds above, making you even more terrified. You immediately cowered away, covering your head as you heard something land rather hard on the ground a few feet away, then a hissing sound and an angry growl from the feral.
You squeezed your eyes shut, not knowing who, or what had just flown down from above.

"Please don't hurt me." You whimpered.
"I'm not going to hurt you." A soft and gentle voice assured you. "Are you okay?"
"Y-yeah." You answered, shakily.
You glanced up to see who your savior was, but the darkness made it a bit hard to see. You squinted your eyes, barely making out the shape of—wings?
Is this another feral?
"Let me help you up." He offered, reaching his hand out.
You grabbed hold and slowly got to your feet, pulling your foot free from the tree root. Now that you were standing, you were able to get a better look at the man who saved you.
The first thing you noticed were large ears on top of his head, then you saw his bat wings.
"Are you a feral?" You asked, your voice coming out shakily.
"Well, I wouldn't say I act like one, but categorically, I am. I won't hurt you though. There's no need to worry." He assured you. "Come here. Let's get you somewhere safe."
You can't say you were surprised to see a hybrid in the woods, they're not uncommon, but you certainly don't see them every day.
Despite not knowing this hybrid, he did just save your life and he seemed fairly nice, so you couldn't really say you felt unsafe with him.
