I smoothed my dress out, giving myself a once-over before grabbing my bag and heading out the door. I clutched the invitation in my hand as I got into the limo outside. King and Queen Kim hold a large celebration once a year for their son Prince Namjoon's birthday. This was the first year I had been invited and I was more than excited. I assumed I was able to score an invite based on pure luck.
The grand celebration included food, music, other royals, townspeople, and most importantly, the birthday boy himself.

I had heard whispers in the town about the prince's gift. Apparently he has some sort of magic connected to the earth. I love magic and am extremely fascinated by it. It sounds silly, but I believe there's magic in this world and that there are people who possess it—I'm certain Prince Namjoon is one of them.

The limo arrived at the Kim family's mansion. Spotlights shone on the structure making it glimmer and glisten in it's splendorous grandeur.
The door to the limo was opened by a butler standing by. I stepped out, thanking him before making my way down the stone walkway leading up to the mansion's entrance. A variety of plants and blooms lined the pathway, fitting for a nature prince's home.

When I stepped inside, I was met with a bustling crowd of people all dressed to the nines. It was nothing like I had ever expected.
I made my way through the crowd, giving short smiles and small nods to the other guests.
It didn't take very long for me to feel comfortable with the crowd and next thing I knew, I was striking up conversations with strangers.
At some point, I needed to get some fresh air. The atmosphere inside the mansion felt a bit stuffy what with all the people inside crowded together.
The cool night air was refreshing and welcoming when I stepped outside. I felt like I could actually breathe. The terrace was situated in front of a beautiful garden with a wide variety of plants and flowers. It was a beautiful sight. My elbows rested on the railing as I leaned forward, my gaze moving from the garden to the stars above.
After a few minutes, I heard the door to the mansion open. I glanced over my shoulder to see who stepped outside. My heart nearly stopped when I saw it was Prince Namjoon.
I was quick to stand up and turn towards him.
"Sorry. I didn't know someone else was out here." He gave me an apologetic smile.
"It's okay, your majesty." I spoke awkwardly. "I'll go back inside so you can be out here alone."
"That's not necessary." He shook his head.
"Are you sure."
"Yes." He nodded. "Plus, I don't mind having company."
He strode over to stand beside me, resting his arms on the large concrete railing.
"So, what brings you out here..." He trailed off, waiting for my name.
"Y/n."
"Y/n." He repeated. "What brings you out here?"
"I just needed to get away from the crowd for a while." I answered. "Not that I'm having a bad time. I'm having a wonderful time. I just needed fresh air."
"It's fine. I understand. Parties, while fun, can be rather suffocating both mentally and physically."
"Right. Exactly." I nodded.
"I often come out here to get away from it all. I enjoy being outside and around the plants."
I glanced over at him.
"Do you like nature?"
"I do." He smiled. "A lot. I feel comforted and happy when I'm tending to the flowers or just walking around the garden. That's why I love this place so much. The garden is beautiful."
"I hope this doesn't seem like I'm prying, but I've heard things here and there about you." I spoke up. "That you have some sort of... abilities."
"Ah." He nodded his head, knowingly. "I'm not very open about it, but I certainly don't try and keep it a secret. So, I can understand why people have talked about it."
It seemed like he just admitted the rumors were true, though he didn't come right out and say it.
"So, you do have powers?"
"Yes, I do. Would you like to see them in action?"
"Yes, very much so." I nodded excitedly.
"Follow me." He beckoned, stepping off the terrace and into the garden.
I followed behind him until he stopped at a small bush which I immediately recognized as a rose bush.
"Watch this."
The prince held his hand out in front of the closed blooms. I watched in awe as they immediately opened up, blossoming before my eyes.
"Wow." I marveled. "That's incredible."
He looked down at his feet, a shy smile on his face as he muttered a small, "Thank you."
"You have an incredible gift, your majesty."
"Please, just call me Namjoon."
I nodded, feeling a bit giddy that he insisted I drop the formalities.
"I've had this gift since I was born." He spoke up. "I can make plants bloom and control where and how they grow."
"So if you wanted to, you could wrap someone up in vines like some superhero?"
He let out a chuckle. "Yes I could, but I don't think I'd ever need to do that."
"I would hope not." I laughed.
"Let me show you something else." Namjoon led me over to a grassy area of the garden where he made a lavender rose bush blossom from the ground. He plucked one of the roses from its stem and handed it to me.
"For me?" I asked, slowly taking the flower from him.
He nodded.
"Thank you. It's beautiful."
He gave me a warm smile before turning towards the mansion.
"I should probably go back inside. You should too. This night air is chilly."
"Right. Thank you."
"Of course." He led me back to the terrace, stopping for a moment.
"Y/n. I hope this isn't too forward, but I'd love to spend some more time with you."
I was speechless.
"I'm not doing anything on Saturday. You think you could stop by?"
I was quiet for a moment, trying to find the words. All I could think was that the prince wants to hang out with me.
"Sure, yeah. What time."
"Is noon good?"
"Noon works for me." I smiled.
Great." He beamed. "I should go inside. I don't want anyone worrying."
"Right." I nodded. "I'm glad I got to hang out with you for a little while."
"Likewise." He flashed me a dimpled smile before stepping inside the mansion, holding the door open for me.
Namjoon was quick to disappear into the crowd after bidding me farewell.
