Jungkook ♡ Spy Duo AU [request]

You headed to your boss' headquarters after receiving a call saying he needed to see you. You couldn't help but wonder why. You hadn't done anything wrong that you were aware of, so you couldn't be getting in trouble. You don't normally get called to the main office. Maybe there was a special mission.

You approached the building, stepping inside and making your way to the elevator. Once inside, you scanned your ID, giving you access to the top floor where your boss' office resided. Upon your arrival, you were greeted by the secretary who gave you a small nod as you passed by.
"You can go on inside." She told you.
You opened the entrance to the office and stepped into the room, closing the door behind you.
"You wanted to see me, sir?"
"Yes, I did." He answered. "Have a seat."
You sat down in the black, leather chair in front of the boss' cherry wood desk, waiting for him to speak.
"I know you're probably a bit confused as to why you've been called here."
"I am. I haven't done anything wrong, have I?"
"Goodness, no. You're one of my best spies." He chuckled. "You could never do anything wrong."
The phone on his desk rang, briefly turning his attention away from your conversation.
He picked up the phone, answering it.
"Hello?"
He nodded as he listened to the voice on the other end of the line.
"Ah. Okay. Send him in."
You furrowed your brows.
Send who in?
Moments later, your question was answered as the door to the boss' office opened. In walked a man dressed in a white button down shirt and black slacks. The sleeves of the shirt were rolled up, showing off the man's impressive inked-up arm. He strode over and took a seat in the empty leather chair beside you.
"Y/n, I want you to meet Jeon Jungkook. He'll be your new partner."
"Partner?" You echoed. "But I work alone."
"Not anymore."
You opened your mouth to protest, but your boss spoke again before you could say a word.
"Jungkook's resume is quite impressive. He's got lots of skills and I think you two would work well together."
You glanced at the newbie. He looks really strong and has large, brown eyes that completely contrast from his build. Honestly, you weren't sure what to expect from him. Would he be as great as your boss thinks he'll be? That was hard to tell.
He's a newbie. He can't be that good. You thought to yourself.
"Welcome aboard, Jungkook." You smiled, extending your hand to him.
He grabbed hold, his grip a lot firmer than you expected.
"I see we're off to a good start." Your boss smiled in approval. "I'd like to have a test mission to see if the two of you truly work well together before I send you on a real mission."
"Sounds like a good idea." You nodded.
"What about you, Jungkook?" Your boss asked.
"I'm up for anything."
"Good. I'd like the two of you to go down to the training rooms and get in your gear. I'll meet you there."
"Yes, sir." You and Jungkook said in unison.

The two of you left the office and went to the training rooms like you were asked. You went to the women's locker room and retrieved your gear before quickly changing into it. When you stepped out, clad in your spy gear, Jungkook was tying the laces of his boots.
"You got gear already?" You asked.
"Yeah. This was hanging in the locker they assigned to me." He answered, standing up.
"Have you done this before?"
"Nope." He replied, pulling on his gloves.
You were about to ask how he got the job if he's never done this, but before you could, your boss entered the training room.
"Good, you're both ready." He stated. "Now, this trial mission will be infiltration style. Get past the obstacles to get to the stolen artifact on that pedestal on the opposite end of the room."
"Easy." You smirked, crossing your arms.
"Alright. I'll be watching from the viewing room. Do your best." He gave a thumbs up before exiting.

Seconds later, red lasers were projected across the room and the weapons were set up and ready to go.
"You ready?" You asked Jungkook.
"I am."
The two of you began maneuvering your way around the red beams, taking each step with the utmost caution.
Just when you thought everything was going well, Jungkook's foot made contact with a trap tile in the floor.
"Jungkook!" You whisper-yelled, grabbing the back of his neck and forcing his head down as a foam dart shot through the air, passing directly where his head previously was.
"I didn't know there were booby traps." He told you.
"You're not supposed to."
The two of you continued to move though the lasers, double checking before you took a step.
A short sigh left you as you and Jungkook arrived at the pedestal holding the "stolen artifact."
"Things like these are usually weight-sensitive." Jungkook mentioned.
"You're right." You nodded. "That's a detail worth remembering."
"We'll need something to replace the artifact with." He stated.
You felt around your gear, patting all over until you found a pocket knife. You grinned, retrieving it from your pocket and holding it up.
"You remove the artifact and I'll put this in its place." You instructed.
Jungkook gave a short nod and prepared to remove the artifact. You began to count down, mouthing each number.
"One, two, three."
Jungkook yanked the artifact from its stand while you skillfully placed the pocket knife in place of the item.
You both froze, waiting to see if anything would happen. The room was completely silent as you waited with bated breath.
"I think we did it." You whispered.
"Then let's get out of here."
The both of you then made your way back across the room, navigating around the red lasers once again, and avoiding any traps. Once you reached the end, the lasers shut off and the test was over.
The boss returned to the room a few seconds later, a bright smile on his face.
"You guys can go back to my office."
The two of you left the training room, returning to the main office upstairs.
