Namjoon's hands trembled as he held the wedding ring between his fingers letting out a shaky breath, mumbling the words of his vows, stumbling over them.
"No, no." He shook his head. "That isn't right."
He had just made a complete fool out of himself in front of the priest, his parents, his future in-laws, and his fiancé. The rehearsal was a complete disaster and an utter embarrassment.
He couldn't recite his vows properly, couldn't light the candle, nearly lost the ring, and to top it all off, he dropped the candle and lit his future mother-in-law's dress on fire. Some sour-faced man stepped in and put the flames out. He didn't even know who the guy was or where he'd come from. It was all too much for Namjoon and he ended up running out of the chapel—like a coward.

The snow crunched beneath his perfectly polished dress shoes as he continued to walk deeper into the woods, murmuring his vows over and over again like a mantra, each time making a mistake.
"With this hand..." He trailed off, groaning as the next line escaped his mind, the disappointed faces of everyone present at the rehearsal flashing in his mind, reminding him of his blunder. He facepalmed, letting out a sigh of frustration. Then, the image of the woman he was betrothed to appeared in his head, her gentle eyes and warm smile. They had only met once, but that's all he needed to know how he felt about her.
He took in a deep breath in preparation, shaking his arms out to loosen his tight muscles, a new motivation rising in him.

"With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never empty, for I will be your wine." He recited with confidence.
Taking a step over to a small tree, he snapped a long twig off and used it as a makeshift candle, mimicking the movements he attempted to practice at rehearsal.
"With this candle, I will light your way into darkness."
Holding the ring in his hand, he held it delicately between his fingers, reciting the last line.
"With this ring, I ask you to be mine." In one, swift motion, he slipped the jewelry on a scraggly and upturned dead root with curled branches, successfully completing the vows. A short sigh of relief pushed past his lips.
I did it. That wasn't hard at all.

The branch twitched slightly, this didn't go unnoticed by Namjoon, his brows knitting together in bemusement. Did he see that correctly? Cracking sounds resounded through the air as the limb moved, reaching out of the ground towards him. Before he could move away, the hand grabbed hold of his arm. He tried in vain to pry it off, tugging with all his might until the arm detached from whatever was underneath the earth.
Emerging from the ground was a partially decomposed woman donning a wedding dress tarnished by dirt, her skin splotched with blue. Her eyes bore into Namjoon's, shaking him to his core as she spoke.
"I do."

At the sound of her eerie voice, Namjoon jumped into action, dashing away from the scene as quickly as his legs would carry him, rushing past trees and over small mounds of snow. Every once in a while he found himself taking a glance behind him, getting a brief look at the terrifying corpse that was following him, this only fueled his need to escape.
He yelped when he ran into a cluster of scraggly branches, his clothes getting caught on them as he swatted the twigs away, pushing through them, ripping his suit sleeve in the process.
Stumbling down into a ravine, he slipped across a frozen stream, his feet threatening to slide out from underneath him as he attempted to move faster. Once at the other side, he trudged up a steep snow-covered hill, continuing to flee, his escape put to a halt when he bumped into a tree. He glanced behind him again in a panic, his vision slightly blurry from his brief collision with the tree.
Luck was not on Namjoon's side as he bumped into yet another tree moments later, his sight getting even worse, as he started to see double for a few seconds. However, he shook it off and attempted to power through, sprinting forward until he finally made it out of the woods, coming to a stop on the bridge just outside of town.
