Finally Yang Yang got back to his hotel past midnight, having gone out for a great meal with Meng Asai and some other friends.

He called Zhang Zhehan, who was chatting to his friend over drinks.

Zhang Zhehan glanced at the phone screen, before hurriedly going out to the balcony for privacy. "Hi there, did you have a good time?"

"It was fun." Yang Yang switched the video function on. "We went for hotpot, and a walk around the city to stretch the legs. How was your day?"

Zhang Zhehan talked about his day. He had gone out after their morning video chat, and was busy all day, every day. Sometimes, Yang Yang had the impression that he was "revenge-filling" his life with activities after being cooped up for so long.

But Zhang Zhehan seemed happy, and it helped with his healing, so that was the most important thing.

"Did you manage to catch my livestream?" Yang Yang asked.

"Yeah." Zhang Zhehan grinned. "I was still surprised by your new hair, even though you already told me you were getting it cut."

"You've seen it before, don't you remember?" Yang Yang recounted their Firemen vs Police basketball game a few years ago.

Zhang Zhehan had a vague recollection of it but he was surprised that Meng Asai remembered it

Zhang Zhehan had a vague recollection of it but he was surprised that Meng Asai remembered it. And he remembered something else about Meng Asai.

"You and Meng Asai looked like you are dating in that livestream just now." He grouched. "Leaning on him like you have no strength. Do I need to remind you that you have a boyfriend?"

"Oh?" Yang Yang raised an eyebrow. "You remember that you have a boyfriend too?"

Zhang Zhehan narrowed his feline eyes and stared into the screen. After a long moment, he asked, "What do you mean by that?"

Yang Yang bit his lip. That came out wrong, and he wondered how to salvage the situation now. Finally, he decided that honesty was the best policy.

"I was feeling a bit neglected during my quarantine, when you were busy going about your life."

There was a confused silence on the line, before Zhang Zhehan asked, "Why didn't you say something?"

Closing his eyes, Yang Yang pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. "It's not my place to say anything."

"Why not? You're my boyfriend."

"All the more I shouldn't say anything. I don't want you to feel restricted, or that you shouldn't go out because of me. That's not what a relationship is about."

Zhang Zhehan looked at the angular slope of his boyfriend's jawline. "That's right. I would hate it if anyone tried to restrict me, or tell me what I should do."

"I know." Yang Yang allowed himself a wry smile. "That's why I didn't say anything."

"I thought you were fine." Zhang Zhehan admitted. "Since you liked your personal space and alone time, I thought you would be fine."
