You sit beside him, silent.
George Weasley doesn't make a joke. He doesn't smile. He doesn't even look at you.
"Are you ready to go?" You ask quietly after a while.
"No." His voice cracks.
You wait a while longer before speaking up again. "We need to leave."
He stands.
You stand and wrap your arms around him. "It's gonna be okay."
"No it won't be."
You apparate both of you to Fred's funeral.
He slips his hand into yours as you walk up to the casket.
You don't want to look at Fred's body. You don't want to see his permanent smile or imagine if that was George in there. You don't want it to be Fred either.
You finally bring yourself to look, because it's the last time you'll ever see him.
You would have broken down, but George did.
You wrap your arms around his neck and he buries his face in your shoulder, letting out pained, heart-wrenching sobs. Everybody in the room starts to cry.
"I can't breathe." George chokes out through gasps. "Come outside. Let's go outside."
You take his hand and lead him outside, and the heart-wrenching sobs become heart-breaking.
Once he calms down, he looks at you like a kicked puppy. "I can't go in there."
"I mean, I guess you don't have to, but you probably should."
"I..."
"He'd want you to be happy, George."
"But I'm not."
"You will be."
"Without Fred?"
"Yes."
He turns around and looks down at a flower. "Y/N..." He begins, turning back around.
You're crying now, and so he starts crying again.
Mrs. Weasley steps outside. "Come inside. It's time to start."
"Mum..." George says quietly.
Mrs. Weasley hugs him, and now she's crying too.

You planned to stop by the Burrow the next day, but George comes to your house that night.
You open the door for him to tumble in and land on your floor. You raise your eyebrows.
"I meant to lean against the doorframe." He says from the floor.
You laugh and offer your hand.
He takes it and stands.
You don't want to ask if something's wrong, in case it isn't.
"I came with ammunition." He says.
"Yeah? What kind of ammunition?"
"Fireworks. Special fireworks."
"Sounds promising."
He takes your hand and apparates you to a deserted park. Talk buildings loomed up over the trees.
You aid in setting up the fireworks  and you both run and hide behind a rock. You can hear the explosions through your plugged ears. You look up into the sky to see what shapes the fireworks would make. There's a star, a heart, a smiley face, and a W among others. The star twinkles, the heart beats, and the smily face turns into a clown before fizzling out.
You hear firetrucks in the distance. You both laugh, and you apparate the two of you back to your house.
You turn to look at George, but he's not smiling. You touch his arm.
"It's weird without Fred." He says quietly.
You nod, and he kisses you.
"Hey, Y/N?"
"Yeah?"
"Will you marry me?"
"Yeah."
He's grinning again. "When do you wanna get married?"
"I don't know. We have to pick a place, make--"
"How about next month?"
"Uh, okay." You agree. "Do you think we could have it at the Burrow?"
"Mum'd love nothing more. Who's gonna be in the wedding party?"
"Would Ginny want to be Maid of Honor?"
"I'm sure she'd love to."
"And Hermione and Luna?"
"Okay." He kisses you.
"What about your Best Man?"
"Fred." He says matter-of-factly.
You almost forget, but then his smile falls, and you remember.
"Uh, Ron." He says. "And, uh, we'll have to write Charlie so he'll have a heads up. I'll, uh... I'll ask Mum tomorrow, but I'm sure she'll be fine with it."
"Are you wanting this done so fast so you can get your mind off of Fred?"
"I don't know."
"Do you wanna wait a bit?"
"No. I want to marry you more than anything."
"Don't you want time to, you know, heal?"
"I'm good."
You nod. "Are you staying here tonight?"
"Yeah. I'll just leave early before Mum notices I'm gone."
You nod.
He wraps his arms around you. "Thank you." He whispers in your ear.
"Yeah, sure, love."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
