(Y/N)'s POV

My mom once told me there were two kinds of people in this world, people who hold onto grudges and keep it deep within them for a long time, sometimes never getting over their resentment, and people who could settle all that with just one punch.

She explained to me that no matter what their grievance is, there were some people that never let it go, and sometimes it weighed on them forever, but other people can let stuff like that go easily, as long as they got a little bit of catharsis out of the way.

I hadn't thought about it for a long time, in hindsight, I think it was her trying to keep my fatal flaw in check, and her lesson informed a lot of my behaviour today. Most things I could let slide as long as I got some form of revenge.

Whether it be a witty remark, a serving tray beatdown or a parking lot fist fight. As long as they got what was coming to them some way or other, they were square with the house again. I never asked my mom which she thought I was, or which she wanted me to be.

As I grew, I figured I was a bit of both, some things I got over quickly, but there were some things I couldn't forgive, sometimes when just one punch would never be enough. I couldn't see myself just punching Zeus or Hades once and being cool with it.

But for Percy, I could definitely be the latter, I was too happy to see him to care about keeping any resentment in my chest, I was too relieved to even consider it. As Percy hit the floor with a 'Thwack' and I was lifted off my feet by Beckendorf as he restrained me, I could only smile.

"Welcome back gills." I smirked, he blinked a few times and smiled back at me with blood on his teeth, "So you missed me then?" He chuckled, getting to his feet and smiling back. Beckendorf dropped me and we exchanged a quick bro hug before his real issues began.

"Oh I see, we get to worry for two weeks while you go and get a tan?" I smiled widely, noticing the change. He shrugged, "Long story." I heard a few curses from the Ares cabin, but Clarisse just rolled her eyes, like she couldn't believe he'd had the nerve to survive.

A shiver hit my spine, I turned to see Chiron as he cantered over and everyone made way for him. But I was more worried about what followed, "Oh, you're so dead." I chuckled as Chiron spoke, "Well," he sighed with obvious relief.

"I don't believe I've ever been happier to see a camper return. But you must tell me—" "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?" Annabeth interrupted, shoving aside the other campers. She looked ready to punch him too, but since I beat her to it, she just hugged him.

The other campers fell silent. Annabeth seemed to realize she was making a scene and pushed me away. "I —we thought you were dead, Seaweed Brain!" "I'm sorry," he said. "I got lost." "LOST?" she yelled. "Two weeks, Percy? Where in the world—"

"Annabeth," Chiron interrupted. "Perhaps we should discuss this somewhere more private, shall we? The rest of you, back to your normal activities!" Percy elbowed me, "That wasn't so bad." I scoffed, "It's not her I'm worried about."

Without waiting for us to protest, he picked up Annabeth and me as easily as if we were kittens, slung us both onto his back, and galloped off toward the Big House. "Hi-ho, Silver! Away!" I said excitedly, he bucked me off.

We all convened in the big house, waiting for Percy to tell us his story, I assured him that if he didn't have a good excuse, I was going to make him revoke his title as lord of the bathroom and give him a swirlie he wouldn't believe.

He didn't tell us everything, anyone with a brain could tell that much, he was vague about some things and too specific about others. He explained how he'd caused the explosion at Mount St. Helens and gotten blasted out of the volcano.
