Percy's POV

Me and Ethan Nakamura were in the eye of the storm, shadows whipped behind us like a typhoon, and trust me, I knew typhoons we were both stood there in shock as it happened, unable to move even, as we watched (Y/N) turn into the monster.

It started with the air. Like a cold snap condensed into the span of ten seconds, the temperature of the night air dropped suddenly. I could feel the chill stinging my lungs, it seemed to by drawing the air out of my chest.

The night got darker, shades of dull grey in the area that were lit up by the lights of the city that was still running were plunged into pitch blackness. The tension in the air was so thick not even light could escape it.

There was no noise, it was like the world itself was stunned into silence, the sounds of fighting died down, even the remaining monsters stayed quiet. I was waiting for what had spawned in front of me to make a noise, to roar or screech, but I think it was more concerning that it didn't.

The silence was broken by the shuffling of feet, as people on both sides of the war decided to make a run for it and I couldn't agree with them more. The feeling I always got from (Y/N) had just skyrocketed.

The original feeling is hard to explain, like a twinge at the back of my neck, or in some cases feeling like someone had walked over my grave. A tensing in my legs as blood pumped to them, my body telling me to run.

But this. It was the exact opposite, I was the closest thing to it, I was frozen in fear. I couldn't run. Even though I knew I was nigh invincible as I was now, there was something gripping at my heart.

I heard the clattering of swords and spears as they were abandoned so their owners could run, my own grip on Riptide even wavered a little. It was a feeling that I had only felt in the presence of things like Kampe or Kronos.

This was different, while their presence for a lack of a better term showed their age, this one wasn't powerful because it was old, it was powerful because we had made it powerful. Every fiber of my being was telling me to dive off this bridge, to seek the safety of the water.

The shadows took shape as if they had decided to crawl over (Y/N)'s body, just like a few minutes they returned to spiraling around him, but this time with every rotation they latched onto him, almost like leeches or wrappings, and I began to see less and less of (Y/N).

I tried to call out his name, to calm him down, but my voice was drowned out. And my heart spiked with fear as I realized that he was still holding Annabeth in his arms. I didn't know what was happening, but I had a feeling that if the shadows reached her, it wouldn't be good.

I took a step towards them, in utter darkness, I think the only reason I was still able to was the adrenaline of facing Kronos and the blessing of the Styx. How Ethan managed to stay was a mystery.

As chills ran up and down my spine like scared mice. The first light I saw were his eyes, brighter then I had ever seen them, piercing through the night. I had never seen them like this. For some reason I remembered the first time I had seen (Y/N)'s eyes change.

I remembered the anger he had shown at the animal traffickers, and I knew this was a thousand times worse. These eyes were harsher, crueler. As I took my second step, his head turned. My heart jumped in fear, telling me to run.

A voice spoke beside me. "NOW!" A woman urged, it took me a second to realize that it wasn't addressing me. As Ethan Nakamura sprang forward with a black sword in hand. And plunged it into (Y/N)'s chest.

All I could do was gasp in shock, and even with my increased ability, I couldn't intercept in time to stop the blow, I tried to wrestle Ethan free of his grip as the sword went deeper and deeper into (Y/N)'s chest, but something else was going on.
