Story: Darkness Below the Surface
Monster(s): The Hadopelagic Leviathan, a massive amphipod-like sea monster with octopus tentacles and lobster claws that has been mutated by the hypo-thermal vents below.
Summary:
The Bay of Justice Oceanographic Institute discovers the deepest trench in the hadopelagic zone in the lowest section of the ocean floor and decide to go check it out. It sends a group of experienced scuba divers down there to get footage of it. There doesn't seem to be anything in particular, but they pick up some movement down there.
Jimbo dons scuba gears and swims down with his flashlight to see for himself. He gets startled by a school of fish that are swimming away from something. He then shines his flashlight on some sort of giant eye before he is suddenly grabbed. Half an hour later, the team gets suspicious and have no choice but to dive down into the trench.
But they are immediately attacked by a giant amphipod-like sea monster with tentacles and giant lobster claws. They soon loose it by taking refuge inside an underwater laboratory. They sent an SOS to the military, but the Leviathan finds them and tries to kill them from the inside. The military arrives and sends a rescue party to save the team, but the monster intercepts them.
