You couldn't help but let out a loud sigh as you watched Lin talk to Tenzin. It was clear that Lin had gotten over him after all those years ago but you knew that there would always be a part of Lin that loved Tenzin. You could still remember how Lin had come to you in tears about what had happened with her and Tenzin. It was impossible to forget because it also happened to be the same day that you were going to tell Lin about your feelings but seeing how heartbroken she was after Tenzin, you knew that Lin would never return your feelings so you kept quiet about it.
"Love troubles?"
Your partner asked after checking the perimeter for a last time.
"Yeah, right. When have you seen or heard me gush over someone?"
He laughs and shakes his head. The two of you had been partners since you joined the forced and not once had he ever heard you mention that you had eyes for someone.
"You seriously need to get yourself a man...or woman. I don't judge."
"Please, Yizo. I don't have time. You don't get to be Lin's second hand by not dedicating your life to the force."
"You're right. The two of you need to stop doing overtime and spend some time out of the precinct. Hey! Here's a wild idea. Why don't you ask out the chief? I've seen her check you out a couple of times. She totally has the hots for you."
"Yizo! That's the chief you're talking about. Don't let her hear you talking like that.....you think that she likes me." His eyes sparkle in delight when he hears that you might be possibly interested in someone for the first time."
"No doubt in my mind. She totally checks you out when you're helping her train the new recruits."
You bite your lip to stop yourself from smiling but Yizo could tell you wanted to smile. He was going to do anything in his power to get the two of you together.
"That's ridiculous. The chief still has feelings for Tenzin. Don't you dare tell her that I told you."
He rolls his eyes over how dramatic you could be.
"Please. Everyone has known that Lin used to like Tenzin but not anymore..."
Your conversation is cut off as several men and woman start bringing chaos around the town hall. You take off in a sprint, trying to stop the explosions they set off to hit the crowds that are slowly dispersing.
"Get them out of here!"
You yelled to the new officers that were standing besides you. It was their first assignment on the job and you knew they weren't going to be much help with stopping the explosions. To the rest of the officers, you ordered to help take down the ones who were setting off the explosions.
With the last explosion stopped, you turned to search for Lin in the crowd. Your eyes widen when you take notice of someone running towards Lin with a knife. There's still too many people to take him out with your bending so you run to her.
"Lin!"
She turns around in time to find you falling to your knees with a knife to you chest.
"(y/n)!"
She falls on her knees, letting your body rest against yours. There's so much blood spilling out from the wound and impossible to get it to stop.
"Stay with me! You're going to be okay! You're not dying on me!"
With the help of Tenzin, they carry you to one of the nearby ambulances that had arrived to help with the injured. At Lin's command, they rush you to the hospital. You're barely able to understand what's going on as you're slipping in and out of consciousness.

The knife had done quite a lot of internal damage. You had been taken into surgery to deal with the wound but had managed to slip into a coma that doctors weren't able to pull you out of. Throughout the whole ordeal, Lin never left your side.
"This is all my fault, (y/n). You would've never put your life at risk if I had just been paying attention."
She sobs into your bed. Hating how there was nothing she could do but wait. The doctors had mentioned not knowing how long you would be in said coma so everyday, she waited with bated breath in hopes that you woke up.
"I need you to wake up, (y/n). Please. I...I don't know what I would do without you."
There was a time that Lin had believed you were waking up but it was just a twitch of a muscle.
"I l..ove you, (y/n). I should've never waited for you to get into a coma to tell you but I'm telling you now. I love you! Please wake up! I can't stand seeing you in that bed."
Lin really expected for you to wake up while she had at last revealed her feelings for you but you didn't. Another week passes by when Lin feels another muscle twitch. She thinks nothing of it, remembering what the doctors had last told her about them being nothing. Another minute passes by and your hand twitches like if you were trying to grab something. Lin still doesn't move. Finally, your eyes open after another minute.
"Lin?"
You asked, wincing as you feel how dry your throat is. Lin jumps from her chair and leans in to kiss you.
"You're awake!"
While Lin is going on about the fact that you're awake, you're still stuck on the fact that she had just kissed you. The kiss finally catches up to Lin.
"I...should call the doctor."
With a press of a button, the doctor comes in quickly giving you both time to think things. When he's finally gone, you look up to find Lin looking embarrassed.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to kiss you like that. At lot has happened since you slipped into a coma and it shouldn't have ha..."
Lin stops when she sees you smiling.
"I liked it, Lin. What happened?"
She knows she's not going to get out of telling you so she gives in and tells you everything that had happened after the surgery.
"So you love me, huh?"
Lin doesn't care for your teasing, simply just leaning in and kissing you.
"I happen to love you too."
You whisper to her after the kiss.
