Chapter 312

Jungkook's words filled Huai with rage.

"Doctor Jeon, have you forgotten your oath?"

A mocking look appeared on Zheng Jungkook's attractive face. The corners of his mouth dipped downward. He looked at Huai and said flatly, "Captain Huai, are you saying that it's my duty to cure illnesses and save lives?"

Huai gave him a stern glare but remained quiet.

"I know that, of course. I've been performing my duties virtuously all this while. But what was the point? I've saved so many lives but I still feel guilty. My mother died a slow death at home while I was in university because she couldn't afford her treatment.

"I've saved so many lives but I could only watch helplessly as that wretched b*stard tortured the woman I loved! I've saved so many lives but I was no match for Taecyeon's schemes. Expelling my sister from university was a piece of cake for him. My brother was also forced to close his restaurant because Taecyeon sent people to damage it..."

Huai listened without saying a word. His expression darkened. He understood the conflict and pain in Jungkook's heart.

"He forced a kind person like me to be cruel!"

Jungkook's lips tugged into a faint smile. He continued, "I didn't want to frame any innocent parties. I just wanted to kill Taecyeon. That's why his weird sugar cubes were such a great starting point. He wouldn't let anyone else drink the coffee with his mint flavored sugar cubes!"

Jennie heard everything clearly despite being outside the interrogation room. It seemed that Jungkook had devising this murder since Tzuyu was first hospitalized.

"You could've chosen many other ways to poison him. Why did you insist on lacing the sugar cubes with the lethal substance?"

Huai's gaze fell on Jungkook's side profile. He seemed lost in thought.

"You have a point. I could've poisoned his food or water instead. However, this would've increase the chances of harming Tzuyu."

Jungkook's gaze softened when he mentioned Tzuyu. He also suppressed his voice and spoke in a gentler tone.

"I picked a day when Tzuyu wouldn't be at home. It was also the day of Taecyeon's interview. I wanted many people to witness the moment when this devil received his rightful punishment!"

A look of madness appeared in Jungkook's eyes. He tapped his fingertips gently against the tabletop. He was tremendously pleased with himself.

"Did you forgot about the overwhelming public pressure that would follow when you picked the day of the live stream? We had to put all the more effort into the investigation because of this. Wouldn't that increase your chances of getting caught too?"

Frankly, Huai realized that they would not have prioritized this case over the others if it had not left such a huge impact online.

"I never wanted to escape!"

Jungkook laughed.

"You don't have to arrest that servant either. She was completely unaware of the fact that I had given her a poisoned sugar cube. She only came looking for me when she heard about this case. She asked me if I had used her, so I gave her a huge sum of money and told her to relax and hide."

The truth to the case was revealed, but Jennie still felt that something was amiss. She could not tell where the source of her intuition came from though.

Huai noticed that his assistant was sorting out the statements. He asked all of a sudden, "I'm guess that Tzuyu played a part in this too?"

Jungkook was shocked. His initially calm face abruptly turned savage. He roared, "You're all devils! Tzuyu has gone through so much, but you still refuse to let her off. You keep insisting on bothering her! You're supposed to pay attention to the evidence when you're solving a case! You have to prove that Tzuyu was involved in this crime. You can't just make things up. Little Tzu is innocent. She can't handle your suspicions!"
