Blue and Noah found themselves scouting the area thrift stores later in the week looking for pieces to make his stark apartment a little more welcoming. Noah followed her around the aisles answering her questions about style, color, and functionality. He was impressed with her flair for design but then again he wasn't used to having anything more than a workspace and a bed. By the time the two had finished, Noah was the proud owner of a comfortable sofa that she would slipcover, a coffee table that they both planned to paint, and a pair of pallets that Noah would repurpose into a shelving unit for his collection of oddities and books. Blue pulled fabric for a slipcover and curtains.

The hardware store was their next stop for wall paint. They debated over the color of the walls finally deciding on a lighter shade of purple. Blue insisted it was lilac but Noah thought the name lilac a little too feminine and insisted it was purple.

As much as Noah despised shopping, their outing had been more fun than he had expected. It was easy spending time with her as she put no demands on him. The pair popped into the bakery and asked Red if she could have Bear and Gabe deliver the furniture they had purchased. They headed back to the apartment to begin painting the walls. In short time, they had transformed the walls into a perfect palette of purple just in time to take delivery of the pieces from Bear and Gabe.

"Purple. I like it."  Gabe nodded as he examined their handiwork.

"It's actually lilac." Blue replied.

"Well whatever it is, it looks better than it did. Now where do you want this couch?" Bear surveyed the room as Blue gave him directions to its placement.

"She's the boss." Noah shrugged as he gave complete design authority to her. Gabe and Bear retrieved the table and palletts leaving them for Noah and Blue to redesign.

Before leaving the the couple alone, Bear reminded his brother of the family dinner that his mother had arranged for Saturday. "Don't forget. She's expecting both of you." Bear motioned at Noah and Blue.

Noah groaned audibly as he knew how overwhelming family dinners were and he wasn't quite sure if he wanted to subject Blue to the microscopic eye of his entire family. Although she had met most of the family having them all in one room at one time was similar to introducing her to the Spanish inquisition. They would all ask entirely too many questions and personal ones at that.

Before he had a chance to back out, Blue had gleefully accepted for them.
"Please tell your mother, we are looking forward to it."

"So are we, aren't we, Noah?" Gabe playfully teased his brother having been in his shoes with Lucy before.

As the brothers left, Noah shut the door behind them. "Noah, were you going to tell me about the invite?"

"Honestly," he hesitated, "No."

"But why?" She asked sounding disappointed.

"My family can be a bit overbearing and invasive with their questions."

"Noah, I assure you. I can hold my own with anybody even your family."

Noah walked to where Blue stood placing his hands on her shoulders. "Even the questions about how many babies you want?"

"A dozen." She quickly replied back.

"Touche." Noah resigned himself to the fact that Blue would be accompanying him to her first official Brown family dinner. He wasn't sure who would be more nervous...him or her.
